The legal year in England and Wales is divided into four terms: Michaelmas, Hilary, Easter and Trinity. A good source for more detailed historical information, including a table of law terms from 1066 to 1830, is 'A Handbook of Dates' by Cheney and Jones. Some universities have similar names for their three terms.
