Questions > : 'Poor rate'

Question

Mar 04 2011, 14:38:09 Poor rate

I am trying to find out what was the rate of the tax called “Poor rate” in Fulham, or generally in London, or Middlesex, in the years 1615-1630. I have read in one of Charles Feret's books that it was 3d in the pound, but find confirmation nowhere. The only sums given are those of the total poor rate levied.
