Florence (f. 84.) | To the bishop of Kilmacduagh, the prior of St. Michael's Mount (Sancti Michaelis de Rupe alias de Ballyursechug rectius Ballyniscelug) in the diocese of Ardfert, and the dean of Ardfert. Mandate (the pope having been informed by Thady Macrayth, perpetual vicar of Cluoyndagad in the diocese of Killaloe, that Philip Macrayth, rector of the united parish churches of Ocormayc (fn. 2) in the said diocese, is a notorious fornicator and adulterer, is involved in divers other crimes [not here mentioned] and is of insufficient learning (fn. 3) ) if the said Thady (who was lately dispensed by papal authority, as the son of an abbot of the order of St. Augustine and an unmarried woman, to be promoted to all, even holy orders and hold a benefice even with cure) after which he obtained the said vicarage; to whom the pope recently [below, Reg. Lat. CCCXCI, f. 95d] ordered provision to be made of a canonry of Killaloe and the prebend of Cluoyndagad therein and of the said rectory, dispensing him to hold them and two other benefices with or without cure compatible with one another, even if canonries and prebends, dignities etc., and to hold the said vicarage and rectory together for life and such other benefices, and to resign them, simply or for exchange, as often as he pleased, and hold instead five mutually compatible benefices; and whose parents were born of noble race; and who on account of Philip's power has no hope of obtaining justice in the city or diocese of Killaloe) will accuse Philip before them, as usual, to summon Philip and, if they find the above to be true, to deprive Philip, and in that event to collate and assign the said rectory, of the patronage of laymen and value not exceeding 10 marks sterling, to Thady, provided that the said patrons assent; notwithstanding that
he holds the said vicarage, value also not exceeding 10 marks, and that the pope has ordered, as above, provision to be made to him of the said canonry and prebend, value not exceeding 3 marks. The pope hereby, notwithstanding his late ordinance to the contrary [see above, p. 5], etc., dispenses Thady to hold the said rectory, if it be collated to him by vigour of these presents, and the said vicarage together for life, and to resign them, simply or for exchange, as often as he pleases, and hold instead two other incompatible benefices, even if one of them be one of the dignities etc. of the church of Killaloe; provided that such incompatible benefices be not without the church and diocese of Killaloe, and that the fruits etc. of the two of them which Thady shall hold together do not exceed in value 20 marks. Mandate to collate and assign to John Rissale, perpetual vicar of Aberbuthnot in the diocese of St. Andrews, the parish church of Mukart in the said diocese, value not exceeding 16l. sterling, void because Thomas Archer, treasurer of Brechin, when holding it obtained the said treasurership, a non-major dignity, collated to him by authority of the ordinary; whether it be void as stated, or by the free resignation of the said Thomas, or in any other way; notwithstanding that he holds the said vicarage, value not exceeding 8l., which he is to resign upon obtaining Mukart. Mandate to collate and assign to Thomas Macgillauanach, archdeacon of Kilmacduagh, of noble race (who was lately dispensed by papal authority, as the son of a priest and an unmarried woman related in the third degree of affinity, to be promoted to all, [even] holy orders and hold a benefice even with cure, and afterwards to receive and retain the said archdeaconry, a non-major elective dignity with cure, provision of which was ordered to be made to him) the perpetual vicarage of Killhoefyd, with cure and value not exceeding 3 marks sterling, void by the death without the Roman court of Thomas Oereachtayd; notwithstanding that he holds the said
archdeaconry, value not exceeding 12 marks sterling.
