1 On the back of the volume is the usual modern label, with: ‘Ca. 3. Off. A. 3. iv. L. ii.’ Inside it is the usual front half of the original sheepskin binding, with the contemporary description ‘[Liber] ii. Officiorum [Calisti] pape iii,’ and several unimportant contemporary notes. On a contemporary flyleaf Bissaiga has written ‘Calixti iii. Officiorum. An. iii. iv. Tom. ii.’ There are eight pp. of ‘Rubricelle,’ headed ‘Secuntur Rubricelle secundi libri officiorum sanctissimi domini nostri domini Calisti pape iii. incepti de mense Decembris anni domini mcccclvii. pontificatus sui anno tercio.’ The ‘Rubricelle’ follow the order of the folios of the text, of which there are i. to lxvi. The volume, like the preceding Register, contains the bulls of appointment of officers of the papal court etc., e.g. on f. 8 of Rodericus [Borgia] cardinal deacon of St. Nicholas's in Carcere Tulliano as vice-chancellor S.R.E. At the end of the volume are several appointments by Pius II, which are registered in their proper place, having been registered here in error, as explained in the margin: ‘Registrata in loco suo: hic propter errorem.’ The ‘locus suus’ is the first ‘Liber’ of Pius II, as is also explained: ‘Registrata li(bro) primo domini Pii quia hic propter errorem.’
