(f. [185]d.) (fn. 2) 		To Dermit Mackillapadrig, clerk, of the diocese of Killaloe (Laonien.). Reservation to the pope's gift, for collation to him (who was lately dispensed by papal authority, on account of illegitimacy as the son of an abbot of the order of St. Augustine and an unmarried woman, to be promoted to all even holy orders and hold a benefice even with cure, after which he had himself made a clerk) of the rectory called the rectory of ecclesiastical fee in the parish church of Drumcleyb in the diocese of Killaloe, without cure and value not exceeding 5 marks sterling, to become void by the promotion made by the pope of Matthew elect of Killaloe to that church, and by the consecration to be administered to him; notwithstanding that the pope has this day ordered provision to be made to him of the rectory of the parish church of Kyllcaydyg, called the rectory of the rural lands of Offlandehea, in the said diocese, of the patronage of laymen, with cure and value not exceeding 8 marks sterling. He is hereby dispensed to receive and retain the said rectory of Drumcleyb, notwithstanding the said defect etc.Vite etc.

(f. 209.)		 To the archdeacon of Elphin, Charles Magorrathid, a canon of Elphin, and the official of the same. Mandate (the pope having been informed by William Offallunin, perpetual vicar of the parish church of Disert in the diocese of Elphin, that Magonius Megoyrectan (?), (fn. 3) perpetual vicar of the parish church of Teachbuyth in the said diocese, a notorious fornicator and otherwise defamed, in order to obtain the said vicarage of Teachbuyth on its voidance by the death of Rory Ymochlayn, paid and assigned to the ordinary collator, in accordance with a previous bargain, under the feigned colour of first year fruits, a sum of 6 marks sterling, after which unlawful bargain and payment the said ordinary made collation and provision to him, in virtue of which he obtained possession of the vicarage and has detained it for more than two years, as he still does, thereby incurring the sentences of excommunication etc. promulgated against simoniacs) if and after William accuses Magonius before the above three, to summon Magonius and others concerned, and if they find the foregoing to be true, to decree and declare the said collation and provision to have been and to be null and invalid, and remove Magonius, and in that event to collate and assign the said vicarage, value not exceeding 6 marks sterling, to William; notwithstanding that he holds the said vicarage of Disert, value not exceeding 2 marks sterling. 1 On the back of the volume is the usual modern description in Latin: ‘1462. An. v. Pius ii.’ A contemporary flyleaf has, in different contemporary hands, the description: ‘Primus de prebendis et de benefitiis vacantibus [anno] v. domini nostri domini Pii pape ii,’ the order: ‘R(ecipe) Pe., P. [i.e. P. de Varris]’ and the rubricator's answering: ‘Rubricatus est, Pe. Rubeus.’ A like contemporary description: ‘Primus …’ occurs, as usual, on the bottom edge of the volume. The text extends from f. i. to f. ccciii, followed by another unnumbered folio. Mgr. Wenzel's numeration note does not occur.
2 i.e. an unnumbered folio between f. clxxxiiii. and f. clxxxvi.
3 The ‘y’ is doubtful. It may be an ‘n.’ The passage in which the first mention of ‘Disert’ and the name ‘William Megoyrectan (?)’ occur is added in the margin and subscribed P. [de Varris].
