To the bishop of Killala. Mandate—the pope having been informed by Maurice Mceadagan, an Augustinian canon of St. Mary's, Doeran, in the diocese of Elphin, that Thomas Omeallayd, Premonstratension abbot of St. John Baptist's de Cellaparva in the diocese of Annadown, immediately belonging to the Roman church, has been guilty of dilapidation, when excommunicate has celebrated mass etc., has been guilty of simony, and otherwise leads a very dissolute life—if Maurice will accuse Thomas before him, to summon Thomas, and if he find the above or enough thereof to be true, to deprive Thomas, and in that event to collate and assign the said abbey, value not exceeding 12 marks, to Maurice, and moreover to bless him, or grant that he may be blessed by any catholic bishop. As soon as he obtains possession he is to wear the habit worn in St. John's, and conform to its regular institutes. Solicite consideracionis. (An. and M. Pinardi. | An. l. To Gerald de Poudeux, abbot of the Benedictine monastery of St. Mary de la Sauve-Majeure (Silve majoris) in the diocese of Bordeaux. Provision of the said monastery, void by the death of Philip [de l'Epinasse], during whose life it was specially reserved by the present pope, in ignorance perhaps of which the convent elected as abbot the above Gerald, one of the monks, [bachelor of canon law], in priest's orders, who, likewise ignorant, consented, but afterwards caused to be set forth the matter of the election, which was null, in consistory before the pope. To William [Silk], elect of Meath. Provision as below. The present pope specially reserved the said see during the life of William [Hadesors], upon whose death, perhaps in ignorance of the said reservation, the clergy of the diocese, according to ancient custom, there being no cathedral church nor chapter of canons, proceeding by way of compromise [described], cast a majority of votes for him, a doctor of canon law, in priest's orders and of the lawful age, and, moreover, born of a lawful marriage, whereupon John Mey, perpetual vicar of Stamolyng in the said diocese, one of the five tellers, in the name of all elected him bishop, who, likewise ignorant of the said reservation, consented, and subsequently, upon learning the said reservation, caused the matter of the said election, which was therefore null, to be set forth in consistory before the pope.
