PRAYERS.
Sherley versus Sir J. Fagg.
The House being resolved to resume the whole Debate which was on Wednesday last, the House was
adjourned into a Committee, for the freer Debate
thereof.
While the Committee were in Debate, the Lord in
the Chair acquainting the Lords that there was a Message at the Door from the House of Commons:
Whereupon the House was resumed.
Message from H. C. with a Vote.
A Message was brought from the House of Commons,
by Sir William Coventry and others; who brought up a
Vote, which had passed the House of Commons, to
which the Lords Concurrence was desired:
The Vote was read, as followeth:
Vote for recalling Soldiers out of the French King's Service.
"Sabbati, 23 die Octobris, 1675.
"Resolved, &c.
"That all such His Majesty's Subjects, which now
are, or shall be hereafter, in the Service of the
French King, contrary to His Majesty's late Proclamation, dated the 19th Day of May, 1675, intituled,
"A Proclamation, commanding the immediate Return of all His Majesty's Subjects who have gone
into the Service of the French King, as Soldiers,
since the late Treaty of Peace with The Estates Generall of The United Provinces, and prohibiting all
His Majesty's Subjects to enter into the said Service for
the Time to come"), shall be taken to be Contemners
of His Majesty's Royal Authority, and Opposers of
the Interest of their Country."
Which Vote being read, and some Debate thereupon;
it was agreed, that this Message and Vote shall be taken
into Consideration the next Business after the present
Debate is ended.
Then the Messengers were called in, and received
this Answer:

That the Lords have considered of their Message,
and will return an Answer by Messengers of their own.
Sherley versus Sir J. Fagg.
The House being adjourned again into a Committee,
to proceed in the Debate:
After a long Debate, the House was resumed.
And it being moved, "That the Order concerning
Judicature, made the 29th of March, 1673, might
be considered;" it was directed, that those Precedents
mentioned therein be in Readiness To-morrow Morning;
and likewise the Precedents reported in Slyngsby's and
Hale's Cafe.
Then it was ORDERED, That the present Debate be
adjourned, to be resumed To-morrow Morning.
