PRAYERS.
Meade, a Protection, to prosecute a Writ of Error.
ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament
assembled, That Mathew Meade, who hath sued out a Writ of
Error returnable in Parliament, for bringing a Judgement given in the Court of
King's Bench against him into this House, shall have the Protection of this
House, during this Session, for prosecuting his said Writ of Error while it
shall be depending.
Marquis of Worcester Privilege, Meredith & al. to be attached
for entering on his Lordship of Chepstow.
Upon Complaint made to this House, and Oath made at the
Bar, by Christopher Harris, "That Howell
Meredith, Thomas Blethin, Nathan Rogers, Edward Kemyes, Phillip Edward, John
Kemyes, and Feild of Penhouse, on several Days in May last, in
Time of Privilege of Parliament, contrary to the said Privilege, did, in a
riotous Manner, with divers other Persons, enter into the Lordship of
Chepstowe, in the County of Monmouth, belonging to the Marquis of Worcester, a Peer of this Realm, and carry away his Wood cut in
his Chase there, called Wentwood Chace:"
It is thereupon ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and
Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the Serjeant at Arms attending this
House, or his Deputy or Deputies, shall forthwith attach the Bodies of the said
Howell Meredith, Thomas Blethin, Nathan Rogers, Edward Kemeyes,
Phillip Edward, John Kemeys, and Feild of
Penhouse, and bring them in safe Custody to the Bar of
this House, to answer for their said Offences; and this shall be a sufficient
Warrant on that Behalf.
To Sir George Charnock Knight,
Serjeant at Arms attending this House, his Deputy and Deputies, and to all
Mayors, Sheriffs, Bailiffs, Constables, and other His Majesty's Officers, to be
aiding and assisting in the Execution hereof.
Benyon versus Bullingham, Privilege.
Upon reading the Petition of George
Benyon Esquire, One of the Gentlemen in Ordinary of His Majesty's Privy
Chamber; complaining of a Breach of Privilege committed by John
Bullingham (pretending Title to some Stone Quarries, Part of the
Inheritance of the said George Benyon, who hath (sitting
the Parliament) while the said George Benyon was actually
attending on His Majesty's Person) got a Judgement against his own Ejector,
upon Default of the said George Benyon's not appearing;
and praying that the said John Bullingham and his Agents
may be summoned to answer for the same:
It is thereupon ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and
Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the said John Bullingham,
Andrew Burton, George Dodson, and Robert Goodhall,
be, and are hereby, required to appear at the Bar of this House, to answer to
the said Complaint, on Monday the 17th Day of this
Instant June, at Ten of the Clock in the Forenoon.
Limiting Time for bringing in Appeals.
The House took into Consideration the Limiting of a Time
for bringing in Appeals into this House in Matters of Equity; and, after a long
Debate, the House appointed a Committee of Lords, to consider of and prepare a
Draught of an Order, to be offered to this House, concerning the Limiting the
Time of bringing Appeals from Inferior Courts into this House, pursuant to the
Debate had this Day, and other Matters in the said Debate, relating to the
Hearing of Causes at the Bar; and to make Report thereof to this House.
