Message from H. C. with an Address for Removal of Papists from London, &c.
A Message was brought from the House of Commons,
by Sir John Trevor and others:
To acquaint their Lordships, that the Commons had
prepared an Address, to be presented to His Majesty, for
Removal of Papists from the Cities of London and
Westm. to which they desire their Lordships Concurrence.
The said Address was read, and Agreed to, with the
Addition of these Words ["otherwise than at the
Council Board"].
Message to them, to return it.
A Message was sent to the House of Commons, by
Sir Miles Coke and Sir John Hoskins:
To let them know, that the Lords agree to the Address for Removal of the Papists with a small Addition;
to which the Lords desire the Concurrence of the
House of Commons.
King's Answer concerning a Fast.
The Lord Chancellor reported, "That, in Answer
to the Address of both House concerning the keeping
of a Fast, His Majesty is pleased to appoint Wednesday the 13th Day of November next, for that
Purpose."
Archb. Cant. appointed to preach at the Fast.
ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in
Parliament assembled, That the Lord Archbishop of
Canterbury be, and is hereby, appointed to preach before
the House of Peers, in the Abbey Church at Westm. on
Wednesday the 13th Day of November next, being the
Day appointed by His Majesty for solemn Fasting and
Humiliation, to implore the Mercy and Protection of GOD
Almighty, upon the King's Majesty and His Kingdom.
Bp. of Exon, to preach the 5th of November.
ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in
Parliament assembled, That the Lord Bishop of Exeter
be, and is hereby, appointed to preach before the House
of Peers in the Abbey Church at Westm. on Tuesday the
5th Day of November next, being the Anniversary
Thanksgiving-day to Almighty GOD, for the Deliverance of this Kingdom from the Gunpowder Treason.
