Message from H. C. for a Conference concerning the E. of Clarendon.
A Message was brought from the House of Commons,
by Sir Robert Howard and others:
To desire a Conference, upon the Matter of the last
The Answer returned was:
That the Lords have considered their Message, and
do agree to a Conference; and appoints it to be presently, in the Painted Chamber.
The same Lords that managed the last Conference
with the House of Commons are appointed to report
The House was adjourned during Pleasure, and the
Lords went to the Conference; which being ended, the
House was resumed.
Report of the Conference.
The Lord Chamberlain reported the Effect of this
Conference; which was, "That Sir Robert Howard said,
He was appointed by the House of Commons to redeliver a Paper which their Lordships were pleased
to communicate to them, which was sent to their
Lordships from the Earl of Clarendon: Upon the Consideration of which Paper, the Commons have made
the Votes following; videlicet,
Votes of H. C. concerning E. of Clarendon's Petition.
"That the Paper sent by the Earl of Clarendon to
the Lords, and by them sent down to this House, is
scandalous and seditious, and doth reproach the King,
and the public Justice of the Nation.
"That the Lords be desired, that the Paper be burnt
by the Hand of the Hangman."
ORDERED, That this House will take into Consideration the Report of this Conference To-morrow Morning.
Committee to prevent Importation of Foreign Cattle.
Justice Archer and Baron Raynsford are to attend the
Lords Committees, to hear Complaints concerning the
deluding of the Act against importing of Foreign Cattle,
Prizing Wines Bill.
The Committee for the Bill for prizing of Wines are
appointed to meet To-morrow Morning.
The Lord Great Chamberlain and the Earl of Kent
are added to the Committee for Sir William Juxon's
The Earl of Pembrooke, Earl of Denbigh, Lord Newport, and the Lord Vaughan, are added to the Committee
The Earl of Strafford is added to the Committee for
Privileges, and Sub-committee for Privileges and the
Journal Book; who are to meet To-morrow in the Afternoon, to put in Execution the Order of 21th of November last, about the vacating the Proceedings against
the Earl of Strafford.
L. Vaughan's Privilege: Welden his Servant's Goods taken in Execution.
Upon Information given to this House, "That John
Bennet Esquire, High Bailiff of the City of Westminster, hath taken in Execution the Goods of Mr.
Welden, Servant to the Lord Vaughan, who claimeth
the Privilege of Parliament, as well for his Goods as
his Person; and likewise that the said Bailiff of Westm.
is ready to discharge the said Goods, upon Sight of
any Order of this House to that Effect:"
It is thereupon ORDERED, That the Consideration of
this Case is referred to the Lords Committees for Privileges, who are to report their Opinion thereupon to this
Pettit versus Hyde.
This House being moved, "That some Words might
be added to the Judgement made by this House on
Monday the 25th of November last, for Explanation
It is ORDERED, That the Words following be added
to the said Judgement; videlicet, in the 33 Line, after
the Word ["sequestered"], add ["and Laurance Hyde
put into Possession thereof"]; and in the 42 Line,
after ["discharged"], add [and Henry Petiit put into
such Possession thereof as he was in before the said
Sequestration"]; and in the 47 Line, after ["thereupon"], add ["and Possession of the Land of Henry
Bill for taxing the Adventurers in the Fens.
The House heard Counsel this Day, concerning the
Matters contained in the Bill for taxing and assessing the
Lands within the Great Level of the Fens, and also
upon the several Petitions relating thereunto, according
to the Order of the 29th of November last:
And, in regard it is now late, it is ORDERED, That
this House will proceed in hearing this Cause To-morrow
