Prince's Lodgings; and to take into special Consideration the Clause inserted into the said Bill
concerning Brandy, whether it be not the same
with the Bill concerning Brandy which is now
depending between the Two Houses; and to
consider of the ill Consequence of such Proceedings in Parliament: Their Lordships are also
to consider of what Petitions are now offered to
the House; and have Power to receive any other
Petitions relating to the said Bill, and to hear all
Parties concerned, and make Report thereof to
the House.
Committee to search Precedents concerning a Clause in this Bill, to the same Effect as a Bill now depending about Brandy.
ORDERED, That it be referred to the Lords Committees appointed to consider of the Privileges of the
House of Peers, to consider of the Unparliamentary Proceedings of inserting a Clause concerning Brandy into the
Bill, intituled, "An Act for an additional Imposition on
several Foreign Commodities, and for Encouragement
of several Commodities and Manufactures of this
Kingdom;" and whether it be not contrary to all former Precedents and Proceedings of Parliament, there
being a Bill concerning Brandy now depending between
the Two Houses; and to report to the House what
Course is fit to be taken, to prevent the like for the future: The Committee is to meet To-morrow Morning,
at Nine of the Clock.

Whereas Sir John Reade Baronet was, by Order of
this House, dated the 27th Instant, required to appear
personally at the Bar this Day; it appearing, by his
Solicitor, that the said Sir John Reade is not in Town,
and that his Solicitor sent Yesterday Morning into Oxfordshire (from whence he last heard from Sir John
Reade), to give him Notice of the said Order:
It is now ORDERED, That the said Sir John Reade be,
and is hereby, required peremptorily to appear personally at the Bar of this House, on Friday next, at Ten
of the Clock in the Forenoon; otherwise this House
will proceed upon his Contempt.
Ly. Prettyman against Houghton's Bill.
Upon hearing Counsel this Day at the Bar, on the
Behalf of Dame Elizabeth Prettyman, upon her Petition
concerning the Matters therein contained, relating to the
Bill, intituled, "An Act to enable the Executors of
Robert Houghton Esquire, and others to sell Lands, for
Payment of his Debts, according to a Decree;" as
also on the Behalf of the said Executors, and others
Parties concerned:
It is ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal
in Parliament assembled, That the said Bill be re-committed to the same Lords Committees to whom it was
formerly committed, who are to be attended by One
Counsel on each Side; and are to take Care that the
Bill be so fitted, that the Jointure of the said Dame Elizabeth Prettyman may be secured, and an Accompt of
Monies received may be made before the Lands intended
to be sold, shall be disposed of, and such Trustees inserted into the Bill as the Committee approve of, and
the Remainder of the Lands (after the Debts paid) may
be transferred to the Heir; which Particulars are to be
provided for according to the Debate had in the House
this Day thereupon: Their Lordships to meet to Tomorrow, at Three of the Clock in the Afternoon, in the
Lord Keeper's Lodgings, and at such Times after as they
shall think fit to adjourn to.
ORDERED, That the Bill for Relief and Release of
poor Prisoners for Debt shall be read the Third Time
To-morrow Morning.
