After Debate, the Earl of Lyncolne asked the Pardon
of the House, for having sent for a Person (to examine him particularly in the Afternoon) who was summoned to appear to be examined at a Committee that
Evening.
L. Preston discharged, and the Order for prosecuting him suspended.
Upon reading the humble Petition of Richard Lord
Viscount Preston, of the Kingdom of Scotland, now
Prisoner in The Tower of London by Order of this
House; shewing, "That he is very much concerned
and troubled that he hath incurred the Displeasure
of this House; and that he never had a Thought,
Purpose, or in the least a Design, to misdemean himself in any Thing towards this House, or of doing
any Thing that should give the least Offence thereunto; and praying to be discharged from the Confinement under which he lies:"
It is thereupon ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual
and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the Order of this House, made the 12th of November Instant,
wherein Their Majesties Attorney General was ordered
to prosecute Richard Lord Viscount Preston, of the Kingdom of Scotland, in the Court of King's Bench, for a
high Misdemeanor, be, and is hereby, superseded: And
it is further ORDERED, That the said Richard Lord
Viscount Preston be, and is hereby, discharged from his
present Imprisonment in The Tower; and that this shall
be a sufficient Warrant on that Behalf.
To the Right Honourable the Lord
Lucas, Chief Governor of The
Tower of London, his Deputy and
Deputies, and every of them.
ORDERED, That the Committee appointed to inspect the Irregularities in Westm. Hall be revived; to
sit on Saturday next, at Four of the Clock post meridiem.
