PRAYERS.
Kettle versus Townshend.
Upon reading the Petition and Appeal of Elizabeth
Kettle Widow, and Joseph Kettle her Son, an Infant, by
his Mother and Prochein Amy, from a Decree made by
the Lords Commissioners of the Great Seal of England,
the Sixth Day of February, One Thousand Six Hundred
Ninety-one; and also from a Decree made by the Lord
Keeper of the Great Seal of England, the Sixteenth of
May, One Thousand Six Hundred Ninety-four; and
from Two several Orders made by the said Lord Keeper,
the Twenty-ninth of June, and the Seventh of July,
One Thousand Six Hundred Ninety-six; on the Behalf
of Edward Townesend; and praying the Reversal of the
said Decrees and Orders; and that a Decree made in
this Cause by the Master of the Rolls, the Twenty-fifth
of May, in the Fourth Year of the Reign of the late
King James, may be confirmed:
It is ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the said Edward
Townsend may have a Copy of the said Petition and Appeal; and shall and he is hereby required to put in his
Answer thereunto, in Writing, on Monday the One and
Twentieth Day of this Instant December, at Ten of the
Clock in the Forenoon; and that, in the mean Time,
all Proceedings in the Court of Chancery be stayed.
The Earl of Rochester reported, "That the Committee had received from the Admiralty Two Papers,
in Pursuance of the Orders of this House of the Second Instant."

Whereupon the following Order was made; (videlicet,
"The House this Day reading Two Papers, received
from the Commissioners of the Admiralty, pursuant
to the Orders of the Second Instant, the one relating
to the Act for registering of Seamen, and the other
concerning Newfoundland: It is ORDERED, by the
Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the Consideration of the said Papers shall
be referred to the Lords Committees appointed to
consider the Answer received from the Commissioners
of the Admiralty, pursuant to the Orders of the
Seven and Twentieth November last; who, having
considered the same, are to make such Report as they
shall think fit."

Whereas Henry Duke of Beaufort hath not given his
Attendance, pursuant to the Orders of this House:
It is therefore ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and
Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the Serjeant
at Arms attending this House, his Deputy or Deputies,
do forthwith take into Custody the said Henry Duke of
Beaufort, and bring him to this House; and this shall
be a sufficient Warrant on that Behalf.
