Bishop of Ely's Bill.
Hodie 3a
vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act for
enabling Symon Lord Bishop of Ely and his Successors
to lease the Manor-house and Demesne Lands of
Downham, in the Isle of Ely, and for continuing a
Lease lately thereof made by the said Bishop; and for
the clearing of the said Bishop and others from Dilapidations there."
The Question was put, "Whether this Bill shall
pass?"
It was Resolved in the Affirmative.

A Message was sent to the House of Commons, by
by Sir Miles Cooke and Sir John Hoskyns:
To carry down the said Bill, and desire their Concurrence thereunto.
Dolphin versus Haynes.
After hearing Counsel, upon the Petition and Appeal
of William Dolphin and Katherine his Wife, from a Decree made by the Master of the Rolls, the Tenth Day
of November, One Thousand Six Hundred Ninety-six;
as also upon the Answer of Francis Haynes put in thereunto; and due Consideration of what was offered thereupon:
It is ORDERED and Adjudged, by the Lords Spiritual
and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the said Petition and Appeal of William Dolphin and Katherine his
Wife shall be, and is hereby, dismissed this House; and
that the Decree from which they appealed shall be, and
is hereby, affirmed: And it is further ORDERED, That
the Petitioners shall pay, or cause to be paid, unto the
said Francis Haynes, the Sum of Twenty Pounds, for his
Costs.
Expence of Suits, for restraining.
It is ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That on Monday next, at
Eleven of the Clock, this House shall be put into a
Committee, to consider of proper Methods to restrain
the great Expence and Length of Suits in the Courts of
Law and Equity.
The House was adjourned during Pleasure.
