PRAYERS.
Bill concerning the King's Power in Ecclesiastical Affairs.
This Day being appointed to take into Consideration
the Bill concerning His Majesty's Power in Ecclesiastical
Affairs, in a Committee of the whole House;
The Question was put, "Whether this House, at
this Time, shall appoint a Chairman for this
Committee, to consider of this Bill ?"
And it was Resolved in the Affirmative.
Then,
This Question was put, "Whether the Lord Chamberlain shall be Chairman in this Committee,
to take this Bill into Consideration ?"
And it was Resolved in the Affirmative.
Then this House was adjourned into a Committee of
the whole House, to consider of the said Bill.
And, after Debate, the House was resumed.
And the Lord Chamberlain reported, "That the
Committee hath made some Debate upon the Title
and Preface of the said Bill; but do think it fit to
take this Bill into further Consideration To-morrow
Morning."
Which this House ordered accordingly.
Vavasor, Maw, & al. Delinquents, about the Isle of Axholme, to be attached.
Whereas Thomas Vavasor, Edward Maw, Robert
Whitley, Thomas Hill, Richard Massey, John Mawe, Thomas Wakefeild, Peter Clarke, Marmaduke Hardy, Henry
Tayler, Thomas Picocke, William Toyne, Francis Kevill,
John Rose, Richard Rose, Richard Mawe, Francis Watson, Edmond Wilbore, Edmond Minitt, George Wells,
Alexander Hutforth, John Thorpe Junior, Edmond Sampson, and Richard Kingman, being in the Custody of the
Serjeant at Arms attending this House, as Delinquents,
were, by Order of the Thirteenth of May last, by reason of
the great Affairs of the Kingdom then depending before
the Lords in Parliament, to be released of their present
Restraint, upon paying their Fees, and giving such reasonable Bail as they were able, to the said Serjeant, to
appear within Ten Days next after they should be
served with an Order of this House, to answer their Delinquencies; and it appearing this Day, by a Certificate
under the Clerk of the Parliament's Hand, and also of
the said Serjeant, "That the said Parties did go out
of Town without giving any Obedience to the said
Order, either by giving of Security or paying the
Fees as aforesaid :"
It is ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the said Serjeant
at Arms, his Deputy or Deputies, shall take the said
Parties abovesaid into his Custody, to answer their said
Delinquency and Contempt of this House, and keep
them in Safety until the further Pleasure of this House
be known; and this to be a sufficient Warrant in that
Behalf.
Lords to be served with the Order about the Benevolence to the King.
ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal
in Parliament assembled, That John Cloterbuck Esquire,
Receiver of the Monies subscribed by the Nobility of
England for their free Benevolence to His Majesty,
is hereby enjoined to deliver a true Copy of an Order
of this House, dated the Twentieth of this Instant February, to such of the Nobility aforesaid as have not
paid the same before the Date hereof, to the End
the said Monies may be paid according to the Intent of
the said Order.
