Committees to attend the King with Thanks for His Answer concerning Jesuits, &c.
The Lord Chamberlain reported, "That he hath
attended the King, to know His Pleasure, when
the Members of both Houses, that are to give
His Majesty Thanks, shall wait upon Him; and His
Majesty hath appointed Six of the Clock this Evening,
at Whitehall."
Message to H. C. about it.
Hereupon a Message was sent to the House of Commons, by Sir Nathaniell Hobart and Sir Toby Wolridge:
To let them know, that His Majesty hath appointed
this Evening, at Six of the Clock, at Whitehall, to be
the Time when the Members appointed by the Houses
shall wait upon Him.
The House to be kept clear during Debates.
Upon Report from the Lords Committees appointed
to consider of the Customs and Orders of the House,
and Privileges of the Peers of the Kingdom and Lords
of Parliament:
It is ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the Gentleman
Usher and his Deputy shall take Care that no Person,
who is not capacitated to be present at Debates of
Parliament, shall be suffered to be or abide near any
of the Doors of the House of Peers; and in particular, that the Lobby next the Prince's Lodgings may
be kept clear from all Persons listening there, during the
Sitting of the House.
Order concerning the Painted Chamber, &c.
Also upon Report from the Lords Committees for
Privileges:
It is ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the Painted Chamber be kept for the Gentlemen Attendants on the
Peers, or the Assistants to the Peers House of Parliament, who are to be uncovered when any Peer is
there; and that no Footman or Lackies be admitted
in there; and that no Person (except such as have Occasion to speak with some Peer) shall be admitted
further than the Painted Chamber. And the Lord
Great Chamberlain be desired to move His Majesty,
That a Chair and Cloth of State may be set up (as
heretofore hath been used) in the Little Committee
Chamber, at the Lower End of the House of Peers;
and also that the Lord Great Chamberlain do give
Charge to the Gentleman Usher and his Under Officers attending on this House, to see that these
Orders be from Time to Time duly observed."
