Modern document references
Each 'volume' represents a piece number within the record series State Papers Domestic James I, SP 14 and the numbered items within each 'volume' represent the order whereby each original letter or item is bound up within that piece. Italicised references in square brackets are cross references to other documents that do not appear in sequence in the bound originals and may relate to other record series. Modern document references of the first four items of 'Volume I' for March-May 1603 are therefore:
