Prayers.
Sheriff of Sussex.
RESOLVED, That Richard Yates, of Warnham,
in the County of Sussex, Esquire, be nominated
and appointed Sheriff of the said County of Sussex, for
the Residue of the Year yet to come, in the Place of Mr.
William Palmer, deceased; and that the Lords Commissioners of the Great Seal of England do issue forth
a Commission for constituting and appointing of him
Sheriff of the said County, for the Residue of this Year,
accordingly.
Adventurers for Ireland.
An Act for the speedy and effectual Satisfaction of
the Adventurers for Lands in Ireland, and of the Arrears
due to the Soldiery, and for the Encouragement of Protestants, to plant and inhabit Ireland, was this Day read
the Second time; and, upon the Question, committed
unto Mr. Weaver, Colonel Wayte, Major Salwey, Lord
Grey, Lieutenant-general Fleetwood, Alderman Allein,
Colonel Sidney, Mr. Goodwyn, Mr. Strickland, Mr. Say,
Mr. Nevill, Mr. Trenchard, Mr. Challoner, Mr. Holland,
Mr. Scott, Colonel Bossevile, Mr. Westrow, Mr. Carey,
Mr. Pierepoint, Colonel Marten, Mr. Darly, Mr. Stephens, Mr. Lenthall, or any Five of them; and all that
come to have Voices: And the Committee have Power
to confer with the Adventurers for Ireland, the Agents
for New England, and with any other Persons, as they
shall think sit; and with further Power to name Commissioners to be inserted into this Bill: And the Committee are to sit this Afternoon, at Two of Clock, in the
Speaker's Chamber: Colonel Sidney and Mr. Weaver
are to take care of it.
Ordered, That the Petition of Roger Lord Boyle,
Baron of Broughill be referred to this Committee: Who
are to consider how One thousand Pounds Land a Year,
according to Order of Parliament, may be settled upon
the Petitioner, and his Heirs, either by some Provision in
this Act, or otherwise.
Adventurers for Ireland.
The Petition of the Adventurers for Lands in Ireland
was this Day read.
Ordered, That this Petition be referred to the same
Committee, to consider thereof, and what is sit to be done
therein; and report their Opinion therein to the House,
with this Bill; and to bring in an Act, or Clause in this
Act, for settling the same, accordingly, as they shall
think sit.
Brereton's Petition.
The humble Petition of Sir William Brereton Baronet,
was this Day read.
Ordered, That this Petition be referred to the Committee, to whom the former Act was committed, to take
the same into Consideration; and to bring in a Clause in
the said Act, for the Relief of Sir Wm. Brereton, if they
shall think fit.
Adventurers for Ireland.
Ordered, That it be referred to the Committee, to
whom the former Act is committed, to examine the Acts
of Parliament, touching the Adventurers for Ireland;
and to state the Case, touching the Forfeitures of the
Adventurers for Ireland, for not paying in their Monies
subscribed; and present the same, with their Opinions
therein, to the Parliament.
Serjeant at Arms.
Ordered, That the Serjeant at Arms attending the Parliament, have Leave to go into the Country for his
Health; and that Serjeant Middleton do, in his Absence,
attend the Service of the Parliament in his room.
Ireland Army Arrears.
An Act for ending and determining the Accompts of
such Officers and Soldiers as are, or have been, in the
Service of the Parliament in Ireland, was this Day read
the First and Second time; and, upon the Question,
committed to the former Committee: And that the
Committee have Power to bring in Names of Officers,
to be named in this Act.
Resolved, That Thomas Herbert Esquire be appointed
Register in this Act.
Irish Affairs.
Ordered, That Mr. Scott make the Reports in his
Hands, touching Ireland, on Tuesday Morning next, the
first Business.
The House, according to former Order, adjourned
itself to Tuesday Morning next, Eight of Clock.
