Prayers.
Papers to be returned.
ORDERED, That the Clerk of the Parliament be
authorized to deliver unto the Committee appointed to
meet with the Scottish Deputies, all such Papers or Books
as have been returned from Scotland, touching Delinquents and Sequestrations, when they shall require it to
be returned by them, after they have made use of them.
Propagating the Gospel.
The House this Day, according to former Order, took
into Consideration, what Duty lies upon the Magistrate
for Propagation of the Gospel, and by what Means he
ought to proceed therein.
The Question being propounded, That the Magistrate
hath Power, in Matters of Religion, for the Propagation
of the Gospel;
And the Question being put, That this Question be
now put;
It passed with the Affirmative.
And the main Question being put; It was
Resolved, by the Parliament, That the Magistrate hath
Power in Matters of Religion, for the Propagation of the
Gospel.
Resolved, That the House do, on Friday next, proceed
upon the Proposals reported; and to begin with the First,
in the first Place, and so with the rest in Order.
