So it was Resolved, That the House doth agree with
the Committee in this Report.
Resolved, That several Patents be prepared for the
several Collections in the respective Counties and Cities,
according to this Report: Viz.
For the Relief of divers distressed Families in the
Parish of Sepulchres, London; for a Collection in the
Cities of London and Westminster, and the Counties of
Middlesex, Surrey, and Kent.
For Relief of the Inhabitants of Long Sutton, in the
County of Lincoln; for a Collection in the Counties of
Lincoln, Norfolk, Cambridge, and York; and in the Cities,
of York, Norwich, London, and Westminster.
For Relief of the poor distressed Inhabitants of the
Town of Bungay in Suffolk; for a Collection in the Counties of Suffolk, Norfolk, Essex, Kent, Middlesex; the
Cities of London and Westminster; the Counties of Sussex,
Hartford, Cambridg, Lincoln, Bedford, Stafford, Derby,
Northampton, Nottingham, Leicester, Huntington, and
Rutland:
For the Relief of the Poor distressed Inhabitants of
the Parish of Wallington in the County of Hertford, for
a Collection in the Counties of Hertford, Bedford, Buck',
Berks, Southampton, and Oxford:
For Relief of the Inhabitants of Newmarkett, in the
County of Suffolk, for a Collection in the Counties of
Lincoln, Norfolk, Suffolk, Cambridg, York, and in the
Cities of York, Norwich, London, and Westminster: And
that the Lords Commissioners for the Great Seal of England be authorized and required to pass the same under
the said Great Seal, accordingly: And that the Committee who made this Report, be authorized and impowered to set down what Fees shall be taken for the
Passing of the said Patents, for easing the Charge of the
Petitioners; and that no other Fees be taken for the
same.
Resolved, That the Direction in the said Patent be,
"To the Overseers of the Poor, to make the several
Collections."
Resolved, That the Time of the Continuance of the
said Patents shall be, the Space of Six Months, and no
longer, from the Time of passing the said respective
Patents.
Stowell's Estate.
Resolved, That the Report touching Sir John Stowell,
be taken into Consideration on Friday next.
Preston Rectory.
The humble Petition of Robert Stansby, of Ipswich,
in the County of Suffolk, Clerk, in Behalf of EmanuellCollege in Cambridge, the Towns of Preston and Lavenham, in the said County of Suffolk; and also in his own
Behalf; was this Day read.
A Bill, intituled, An Act for Disappropriating of the
Rectory Appropriate of Preston, in the County of Suffolk; and for the Union and Consolidation of the said
Rectory, and of the Vicarage of the Church of Preston
aforesaid; and for assuring the Advowson and Right of
Patronage of the same unto the Master, Fellows, and
Scholars of Emanuell-college in Cambridge, and to their
Successors for ever; was this Day read the First time.
Resolved, That it be referred to the Committee for
Tythes to prepare a Bill to be brought into the House,
so as the charitable Intention may be preserved; and
present it to the House.
Planting Tobacco.
Major-General Desborow reports from the Council of
State, The humble Petition of some of the Inhabitants of
Gloucestershire, concerning the Planting of English Tobacco: Which was this Day read.
Petition from Bristoll.
Mr. Warner reports from the Committee for Trade
and Corporations, The humble Petition of the Society of
Merchants-Adventurers, and other the Inhabitants,
Tradesmen, of all Sorts, within the City of Bristoll:
Which was also this Day read.
He also reports, A Certificate from the Mayor of the
City of Bristoll, dated the 13th Day of July 1653:
Which was also read.
Resolved, by the Parliament, That there be an Inquiry
into this Riot mentioned in this Certificate, according to
Law.
Planting Tobacco.
Resolved, That Three-pence upon every Pound of Tobacco planted in the County of Gloucester, shall be paid
by the Planters to the Use of the Commonwealth.
Resolved, That the Planters of English Tobacco in
Gloucestershire shall enjoy the English Tobacco by them
planted this Year only, without Interruption or Molestation: And that Captain Crofts do bring in an Act to
this Purpose.
