Planting Tobacco.
ORDERED, That Mr. Warner and Mr. Broughton be added to Captain Crofts, to prepare the Act
touching the English Tobacco in Gloucestershire.
Letter read.
A Letter from the Apprentices committed, dated the
16th of August 1653, was this Day read.
Registering Marriages.
The House resumed the Debate upon the Bill touching
Marriages, and the registering thereof; and also touching Births and Burials.
Resolved, That this House doth agree to the Amend
ments, reported the 13th of August 1653.
Ordered, That Sir Anth. Ashley Cooper, Alderman
Titchborne, Mr. Spence, Mr. Sadler, Colonel Sidenham,
Major-General Desborow, Mr. Moyer, Mr. Squib, or any
Three of them, do withdraw, and bring in a Clause upon
the Debate of the House, instead of the Clause contained
in the 7th, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, and 14th Line of the
Fourth Page.
Colonel Titchborne reports from the Committee appointed to withdraw, A Clause to be inserted into the
Bill, instead of the Clause aforesaid.
The Question being put, That these Words, "or with
any intent to make Gain thereby," shall stand in this
Clause;"
It passed in the Negative.
Envoy at Constantinople.
Colonel Titchborne reports from the Council of State,
Instructions unto Mr. Richard Lawrence, to be observed
in his Employment to Constantinople; as also, A Draught
of a Letter to Sir Thomas Bendish; another to the Grand
Seignior; and a Third to the Vizier: Which were this
Day read.
Resolved, That Mr. Richard Lawrence be Agent from
this Commonwealth to Constantinople.
Resolved, That the House doth agree to these Instructions, to be given to Mr. Richard Lawrence.
Resolved, That the House doth approve of the said
Letters, to be sent to Sir Thomas Bendish, to the Grand
Seignior, and the Vizier.

Persons who lately delivered to the Parliament a Petition on the Behalf of Lieutenant-Colonel John Lilborne:

Prisoners sent to Bridewell.
Ordered, That the said Persons who are now in the
Custody of the Serjeant at Arms, by Order of this House;
viz. William Trevor, Robert Brook, James Briggs, John
Blow, and one other Person, who refuseth to discover
his Name, be committed to Bridewell, London; there to
remain, and be kept to hard Labour, during the Pleasure
of the Parliament.
