RESOLVED, That Thursday next be appointed
for Reports of Petitions; to be made the first Business; and nothing to intervene.
E. of Nottingham.
Resolved, That the Report from the Council for the
Earl of Nottingham, be heard on Friday next.
Trade.
Ordered, That the Act for Trade be read on Friday
next.
Admiralty.
Ordered, That the Commissioners appointed by the
Act constituting Commissioners for the Managing and
Ordering the Affairs of the Admiralty and Navy, have
Power to make Use of the Seal of the Anchor, now in their
Custody, for their Warrants and Commissions.
Ordered, That the Commissioners appointed by that
Act be authorized and impowered to make Choice of,
and appoint, such Clerks, and other Officers, under them,
as they shall think fit; and to allow such Salaries to such
Clerks and Officers; and also to direct what Sums from
... to time, shall be necessary for incident Charges, for
the Carrying on of the Service by the said Act intrusted
with them: And that the same be paid out of the Treasury of the Navy, by Warrant from the Commissioners
of the Navy: And that the said Commissioners of the
Navy be authorized and required to issue their Warrants
to the Treasurer of the Navy, from time to time, to pay
the same, accordingly.
Ordered, That the said Commissioners be authorized
from time to time, to give Directions for the Sale of all
unserviceable Stores, and other Provisions of the Navy:
And that the Monies arising thereupon, and also upon
Sale of unserviceable Ships and Vessels, be, from time to
time, paid to the Treasurer of the Navy, for the Use of
the Navy, accordingly.
Ordered, by the Parliament, That, until Monies rising
out of the Prize-Office, for Relief of Sick and Wounded
Men, and other Occasions in the printed Votes, do come
into that Treasury, for the Purposes aforesaid, the Commissioners for the Admiralty do give Order to the Commissioners of the Navy, to issue out their Warrants to the
Treasurer for the Navy, to issue out such Monies, out of
any Monies in the Treasury, for Supply of those Occasions in the mean time, as the Commissioners of the Admiralty shall think fit; the same Monies to be reimbursed
to the Treasury of the Navy, out of those Monies arising
by the Reprizal Goods, as they shall come in.
Resolved, That, as well the Monies already appointed,
as that shall be appointed, by Parliament, or Council of
State, for the Use of the Navy, be issued by Warrant,
from the Commissioners for inspecting the Treasuries, unto the Treasurer of the Navy for the Time being: And
that the Warrant of the said Commissioners for inspecting
of the Treasury, and the Receipt of the Treasurer of the
Navy, shall be a Discharge to the respective Treasuries
that are, or shall be, charged with any Monies for the
Use of the Navy, to pay such Sums, from time to time,
as the Commissioners for the Treasury shall direct, for
the Uses aforesaid.
Resolved, That the Commissioners for Ordering and
Managing the Affairs of the Admiralty and Navy be appointed to make Certificates, from time to time, to the
said Commissioners of the Treasury, what Sums of Money
are requisite to be paid or assigned by their Warrant, for
the Carrying on the Service: And that Warrants be, by the
Commissioners of the Treasury, issued, accordingly.
Ordered, That the Commissioners for Ordering and
Managing the Affairs of the Admiralty and Navy be
authorized to give Warrant unto the Treasurer of the
Navy, for the Payment of all such Monies as are or
shall be due for Stores or Ammunition belonging to the
Navy, already contracted for by the Officers of the Ordnance, or as shall be contracted for, as aforesaid, before
the Fourth Day of June One thousand Six hundred Fifty
and Four.
Ordered, That the Commissioners for the Admiralty and
Navy do take care to employ such Persons in the Service
of the Admiralty and Navy, as shall be judged to be
Godly, and most able for the Service, and Well-affected
to the Parliament; and to remove such as are otherwise.
