Mr. Downing reports Amendments to the Bill for settling the Castle of Blarney, &c. on Roger Boyle Lord
Baron of Broghill, &c.: Which were twice read; and,

Tythes.
A Bill for confirming and reviving several Ordinances
of Parliament for the Recovery of Tythes, and such-like
Duties; with some Explanations and Alterations thereof,
and Additions thereunto: was this Day read the First
time; and, upon the Question, ordered to be read the
Second time on Friday Morning next.
Assessment for Ireland.
A Bill for Three Months Assessments in Ireland, for
the Maintenance of the Spanish War, and other Services
of the Commonwealth, was this Day read the Second
time; and, upon the Question, committed.
Ordered, That this Bill be committed to the Committee
for Ireland: All that come, to have Voices: Provided this
be not drawn into Precedent for the future, to commit
Bills for Assessments to particular Committees.
Ordered, That this Committee do bring in this Bill on
Friday Morning next.
Redeeming Captives.
Ordered, That it be referred to the Grand Committee,
upon the Bill of Tonage and Poundage, to bring in a
Clause in that Bill for Redemption of Captives in Algeers,
and other Places.
Recusants.
Ordered, That Mr. Godfrey, Mr. Brisco, Mr. Bampfeild, Mr. Pickering, Mr. West, Mr. Buller, Mr. Mackworth, Mr. Moody, Mr. Timbes, Colonel Castle, Mr. Jenkinson, Sir John Thorowgood, Mr. Harvey, Mr. Kiffin,
Major Beake, Mr. Margetts, Sir John Copleston, Mr.
Lucy, Mr. Burton, be added to the Committee to whom
the Bill touching Recusants is referred.
Tonage and Poundage.
The House, according to former Order, was resolved
into a Committee of the whole House, upon the Bill for
Tonage and Poundage.
Mr. Speaker left the Chair.
The said Committee of the whole House not agreeing
who should take the Chair;
Mr. Speaker again resumed the Chair.
Resolved, That Captain Baines be in the Chair of
the Grand Committee upon the Bill for Tonage and
Poundage.
