Admiralty.

COLONEL James Temple reports Amendments to the Bill for constituting Commissioners for ordering and managing the Affairs of the Admiralty and Navy: Which were twice read.

The Question being propounded, That the Number of the Commissioners for Management of the Affairs of the Admiralty and Navy shall be One-and-twenty;

And the Question being put, That that Question be now put;

It passed with the Affirmative.

And the main Question being put; It was

Resolved, That the Number of the Commissioners for Management of the Affairs of the Admiralty and Navy shall be One-and-twenty.

Resolved, That Fourteen of them be Members of Parliament.

Resolved, That Mr. Attorney-General Reynolds be one of the said Commissioners.

Resolved, That Colonel Valentine Walton be one of the said Commissioners.

Resolved, That Colonel Herbert Morley be one of the said Commissioners.

Resolved, That Thomas Boone Esquire be one of the said Commissioners.

Resolved, That Sir Michael Lecisey Knight and Baronet be one of the said Commissioners.

Resolved, That Colonel * Thompson be one of the said Commissioners.

Resolved, That Mr. Edmond West be one of the said Commissioners.

Resolved, That Mr. Carew Ralegh be one of the said Commissioners.

Resolved, That Mr. Thomas Challenor be one of the said Commissioners.

Resolved, That Mr. Lenthall be one of the said Commissioners.

Resolved, That Mr. Henry Darley be one of the said Commissioners.

Resolved, That Mr. * Weaver be one of the said Commissioners.

Resolved, That Mr. Dormer be one of the said Commissioners.

Resolved, That Lord Commissioner Lysle be one of the said Commissioners.

Resolved, That General George Monck be one of the said Commissioners.

Resolved, That Vice Admiral Lawson be one of the said Commissioners.

Resolved, That Mr. Richard Bradshawe be one of the said Commissioners.

The Question being put, That Colonel Thomas Middleton be one of the Commissioners;

The House was divided.

The Yeas went forth.

So it was Resolved, That Colonel Thomas Middleton be one of the said Commissioners.

Resolved, That Edward Bushell be one of the said Commissioners.

Resolved, That Mr. Slingsby Bethell be one of the said Commissioners.

Resolved, That Mr. George Cowper be one of the said Commissioners.

And the said Amendments, being put to the Question, were agreed unto.

Resolved, That this Bill be ingrossed.

Resolved, That no one of the said Commissioners for the Admiralty and Navy shall continue in the Chair, for putting the Questions there, for above a Fortnight: And that the said Commissioners do take the Chair there, by Turns.

The House adjourned until Two of Clock.

Petition from Purbeck.

ORDERED, That the Petition of divers the Inhabitants of the Isle of Purbeck, in the County of Dorsett; and the Petition of divers the Inhabitants of the Borough of Blandford-Forum in the County of Dorset; be referred to the Committee to whom it is referred, to examine, What Monies have been raised by colour of the Act, for the Militia, &c.; to consider of them; and to examine, What Monies have been raised, and in whose Hands the said Monies are; and to take care that the said Monies be brought in, for the Advantage of the Commonwealth.

Petition from London.

The humble Petition of several Merchants and Traders in and about the City of London, and elsewhere in England, was read.

Ordered, That this Petition be referred to the Council of State, to consider thereof; and to take care, That the Courts of Justice in Scotland and Ireland be filled with Judges for putting the Laws in Execution there.

Irish Commissioners.

Ordered, That Mr. Nevill do make his Report from the Council of State, concerning the Instructions to be given to the Commissioners for Management of the Government of Ireland, on Monday Morning next.

Debts due to the Publick.

Colonel White reports from the Committee for Inspections, The humble Answer of Christopher Pack Alderman of the City of London, to the Demands of the said Committee, of the Sum of Twenty-two thousand Two hundred Forty-six Pounds Seven Shillings Ten-pence, due to the Commonwealth by the said Christopher Pack, and by Samuell Avery, Richard Bateman, Charles Lloyd, and Walter Boothby, as Commissioners and Collectors of the Customs, according to the Order of Parliament, of September 20th, 1659: Which Order and Answer were read.

Ordered, That the Judgment given by Parliament the 20th of September 1659, That Samuell Avery, Richard Bateman, Charles Lloyd, Christopher Pack, and Walter Boothby, Commissioners and Collectors of the Customs, do, at or before the First of November 1659, pay into the Receipt of the Publick Exchequer, the Sum of Twenty-two thousand Two hundred Forty-six Pounds Seven Shillings Ten-pence, be transmitted into the Court of Exchequer: And that the said Court do forthwith proceed to levy the said Sum of Twenty-two thousand Two hundred Forty-six Pounds Seven Shillings Tenpence, according to the Course of the Court of Exchequer, upon the Bodies, Goods, and Lands of the said Samuell Avery, Richard Bateman, Charles Lloyd, Christopher Pack, and Walter Boothby, their Heirs, Executors, and Administrators; any Pretence of any Quietus est, obtained by them, notwithstanding; the said Money not being paid, according to the said Judgment.

Ordered, That it be referred to the Committee of Inspections, to hear what can be alleged by Samuel Avery, Richard Bateman, Charles Lloyd, Christopher Pack, and Walter Boothby, Why any Abatement should be made to them of the Sum of Six thousand Pounds, Part of the Sum of Twenty-two thousand Two hundred Forty-six Pounds Seven Shillings Ten-pence, by them owing to the Commonwealth for Monies of the Commonwealth, by them received as Commissioners and Collectors of the Customs; And to report the Matter of Fact, with their Opinion therein, to the Parliament: But no Process to stay in the mean time.

Admiralty Judges.

Ordered, That the Salaries of the Judges of the Admiralty, and for Probate of Wills, be taken into Consideration on Monday Morning next, the first Business; nothing to intervene.
