Prayers.

Wrotham, &c. Parish.

AN Ordinance for the Dividing of the Parish of Wrotham in Kent into several Parishes; viz. of Wrotham, Stanstead, and Plaxtoll; and for the Making of the said Villages of Stanstead and Plaxtoll, and the Precincts thereof, distinct and several Parishes; and to establish several Preaching Ministers there, and competent Provisions for them; was this Day read the First and Second time; and, upon the Question, committed unto the Committee of plundered Ministers: Who are to hear Mr. Parker, and all other Persons concerned: And are to report it with all convenient Speed.

Ordered, That, on Wednesday Morning next, the First Business, the Ordinance and Instructions, now under Commitment, for dividing of Parishes, and inquiring into the Value of Livings, and of the Lands and Revenues of Deans and Chapters, be reported, peremptorily: And that then the House do consider of providing for the Parish of Brentford a competent Maintenance for a Minister.

Message from Lords.

A Message from the Lords, by Dr. Bennett and Mr. Eltonhead;

The Lords have commanded us to bring unto you a Certificate of the Earl of Nottingham's Arrears upon several Annuities: An Alteration in the Order sent up, touching Mr. Marshall's and Mr. Carill's going into Scotland: In which they desire the Concurrence of this House.-The Relation of Mr. George Manley, touching the Raising of Soldiers under the Spanish Ambassador's Commission; with an Order upon it: In which they desire the Concurrence of this House. They desire to put this House in mind of an Ordinance formerly sent to this House, touching the Repair of Churches. They have sent an Ordinance against Stage Plays: In which they desire the Concurrence of this House.

Earl of Nottingham's Arrears.

The humble Petition of Charles Earl of Nottingham, together with a Certificate of the Earl of Nottingham's Arrears upon his several Annuities, were read.

Ordered, That the Sum of Five hundred Pounds be forthwith furnished, and paid unto Charles Earl of Nottingham.

Ordered, That the Committee for Advance of Monies at Haberdashers Hall, do forthwith pay unto Charles Earl of Nottingham the full Sum of Five hundred Pounds, out of the first Monies that shall come in at Haberdashers Hall.

Payment to Ashhurst.

Ordered, That the Committee of Lords and Commons for Advance of Monies at Haberdashers Hall, do pay unto Wm. Ashhurst Esquire the Sum of One thousand Pounds, towards Reparations of his great Losses and Damages.

Register in Chancery.

Ordered, That it be referred to the Committee at Haberdashers Hall to inquire into, and consider of the whole State of the Business touching the Register's Office in Chancery, How it stands in relation to Mr. Robert Goodwyn; and to report it to the House with convenient Speed, together with their Opinions upon it.

Mr. Marshall, &c.

The Alteration in the Order concerning Mr. Marshall's and Mr. Caryll's going into Scotland, was read; and agreed unto; and was, That Mr. Herle may be appointed to go into Scotland, in the place of Mr. Carill.

Colonel Ashton and Sir Richard Haughton are appointed to give speedy Notice hereof to Mr. Herle.

Raising Forces by Spanish Ambassador.

Mr. George Manlye's Relation concerning one Lieutenant Colonel Bury, that has formerly served the King, his raising Forces under the Commission of the Spanish Ambassador; and an Order of the Lords thereupon sent with it; were this Day read.

Delinquents, &c.

It is this Day Ordered, by the Lords and Commons, in Parliament assembled, That Colonel Baxted shall give Assistance to the Provost Marshal Theodore Jennings, for the Apprehending of Delinquents and Malignants; and to guard such Malignants to Prison, as the Committee of the Militia of Westminster shall, from time to time, commit, according to the Ordinance of Parliament.

Raising Forces by Spanish Ambassador.

Ordered, That it be referred to the Committee for Foreign Affairs, to consider of, and to examine the Matter of Fact informed of, touching Forces raised by the Spanish Ambassador; and report the whole State of that Business to the House with all Speed.

Earl of Suffolk's, &c. Impeachment.

Sir Peter Wentworth carried to the Lords the particular Articles of Impeachment against James Earl of Suffolk, and Theophilus Earl of Lincoln, in Maintenance of the Charge against them of High Treason, for levying War against the King, Parliament and Kingdom: And was to desire, that they might be put to answer according to Law, and the Course of Parliament: And was to acquaint them, that this House was ready with their Evidence.

Mr. Challoner carried to the Lords the particular Articles of Impeachment against James Earl of Middlesex, George Lord Berkley, John Lord Hunsdon, and Wm. Lord Maynard, in Maintenance of the Charge against them of High Treason, for levying War against the King, Parliament, and Kingdom: And was to desire, that they might be put to answer according to Law, and the Course of Parliament: And was to acquaint them, that this House was ready with their Evidence: And was further to desire a Conference, concerning Sheriffs, and concerning the Recorder of London, by Committees of both Houses, so soon as may stand with their Lordships Conveniency.

Repair of Churches.

Ordered, That the Ordinance for the Repair of Churches be reported To-morrow Morning, the first Business.

Suppressing Stage Plays.

An Ordinance, sent from the Lords, for the Suppression of Stage Plays, was read; and nothing more done upon it.

Ditto.

Mr. John Stephens reported an Ordinance for the effectual Suppression of Stage Plays, and punishing of Stage Players; The which was this Day read the First time; and ordered to be read the Second time To-morrow Morning.

Navy, &c.

Ordered, That, To-morrow Morning, the first Business; peremptorily, the House do take into Consideration the Business concerning the Navy: And that, next, the Amendments to the Ordinance for the Assessments for Ireland be reported.

Conference agreed to.

Mr. Challoner brings Answer, That the Lords do agree to grant a present Conference, in the Painted Chamber, touching the Matter of the Sheriffs, and the Recorder, as is desired.

Mr. John Goodwyn brings Answer, That the Lords do agree to the Order for Five hundred Pounds out of Haberdashers Hall to the Earl of Nottingham; and to the Order for One thousand Pounds out of Haberdashers Hall to Mr. Ashhurst.

Comm rs to Scotland.

Resolved, &c. That the Speakers of both Houses be hereby authorized to sign the like Letter of Credence to the Commissioners employed into the Kingdom of Scotland, as was for the last former Commissioners, mutatis mutandis.

Scotts Officers.

Ordered, That, on Thursday Morning next, the first Business, Mr. Swynfen do make the Reports concerning the Scotts Officers.

Whereas, by Ordinance of the Date of the Twentyfifth of May 1647, the Sum of Five thousand Seven hundred and Six Pounds Eighteen Shillings and a Peny, was charged upon the Receipts at Goldsmiths Hall, in Course, with Interest, to such as shall advance the same, after the Rate of Eight Pounds per Centum: It is now Ordered and Ordained, by the Lords and Commons, in Parliament assembled, That the growing Interest, and the Interest due for the said Sum, to be accompted from the First of May 1647, the Date of the First Ordinance, be forthwith paid, and so from time to time, by the Treasurers of Goldsmiths Hall, at the End of every Six Months, to the said Officers for whom it is charged, or their Assignees: And that the Treasurers at Goldsmiths Hall do take Notice of such Assignments, and make Entries thereof, as the said Officers have already made, or shall make; that the Monies and Interest due upon them may be paid according to the several Proportions made out under the Hand of Mr. Broade; who is, by Appointment, Treasurer for that Purpose.

Judges to go Circuits.

Ordered, by the Lords and Commons, assembled in Parliament, That Justice Bacon, and Serjeant Cresheld, shall go Judges for this Circuit; viz. for the Counties of Kent, Surrey, Sussex, &c.

And that Baron Trevour and Justice Phesant, shall go Judges for this Circuit; viz. for the Counties of Norfolk, Suffolk, Cambridge, &c.

And that Justice Rolle shall go Judge for this Circuit; viz. for the Counties of Northampton, Warwick, Leicester, &c.

And that Baron Atkins and Serjeant Turner shall go Judges for this Circuit; viz. for Berks, Oxon, Gloucester, &c.

And that Serjeant Jermyn and Serjeant Green shall go Judges for the Northern Circuit.

And that Justice Godbolt and Serjeant Wilde shall go Judges for the Western Circuit.

Mr. Knightley carried to the Lords, for their Concurrence, the Votes for appointing the Judges of the several Circuits.

Sheriffs.

Mr. Lisle and Mr. Scott are appointed Managers of the Conference likewise concerning the Sheriffs.

Judges.

Ordered, That, on Saturday Morning next, peremptorily, the first Business, the House do take into Consideration the filling the Courts in Westminster Hall with able and fitting Judges.

Answer returned by the same Messengers; That this House has considered their Lordships Message; And, to the Alteration in the Order, concerning the Ministers appointed to go into Scotland; and to the Order for Colonel Baxted to be aiding to the Marshal of Westminster, upon the Occasion of apprehending and carrying to Gaol Delinquents; they do agree: To the rest, they will send Answer by Messengers of their own.
