Prayers.
Conference with Lords.
A MESSAGE from the Lords, by Sir Thomas
Estcourt and Sir Nathaniell Hobart.
Mr. Speaker, The Lords desire a present free Conference with this House, in the Painted Chamber, upon
the Bill for amending the Highways in and near Westminster.
Resolved, That this House doth agree to the said free
Conference.
And the Messengers being called in, Mr. Speaker acquainted them, That the House had agreed to a present
free Conference.
Ordered, That the same Persons that did manage the
last, do manage this free Conference.

Which Proviso was as followeth:
"Provided always, That nothing in the Passing of this
Bill, nor any thing therein contained, shall extend to the
Prejudice of the Privileges of both or either of the Houses
of Parliament, or any of them; but that all the Privileges
of the said Houses, or either of them, shall be and remain,
and be construed to be and remain, as they were before
the Passing of this Act; any thing therein contained to
the contrary notwithstanding.
And the said Proviso being twice read, this House
agreed upon an Amendment to the said Proviso, sent down
from the Lords, which was as followeth:
Amendment to the Proviso, sent by the Lords, to be
added to the Bill for Paving and Repairing the
Highways from Charing Cross to the Stone Bridge,
beyond Piccadilly, &c.
After the Word "nothing," and before the Word "in,"
insert these Words, "in this Act shall be understood, or
shall extend to the admitting or creating of any Right or
Privilege to either House of Parliament, which have not
formerly and justly belonged to either of them;" and leave
out all the rest of the Words in the Proviso.
Resolved, That this House doth agree to the Proviso
sent from the Lords, with the Amendment; and to pass
the Bill, with the Proviso amended and agreed to.
Ordered, That Sir Baynham Throgmorton do go to
the Lords, to desire a Conference upon the Subject
Matter of the last free Conference.
Sir Baynham Throgmorton reports from the Lords,
That they had consented to a present Conference in the
Painted Chamber.
Child-stealing.
Resolved, That a Bill be brought in, the next Meeting
of the Parliament, after this Recess, to make it Felony
for those that shall steal and carry away Children.
And Mr. Alderman Fowke is desired to prepare and
bring in the Bill.
Message to attend the King.
Sir John Eyton, Usher of the Black Rod, brought this
Message;
Mr. Speaker,
The King commands this honourable House to attend
His Majesty forthwith in the House of Peers.
Whereupon Mr. Speaker, accompanied with the Members of this House, did presently go up to the House of
Peers, to wait upon his Majesty.
Adjonment.
And Mr. Speaker, at his Return, did acquaint the
House, That his Majesty did return Thanks to this House
for the good Bills they had passed: But, there being many
more in Forwardness, his Majesty was pleased to direct
both Houses to adjourn till the Twentieth of November.
Whereupon it was Resolved, That this House be adjourned till the Twentieth of November next.
