A BILL for repairing and maintaining the Highways, was read the Second time.

Burning Corn and Hay Stacks.
Sir Jo. Brampston reports from the Committee to
which the Bill to prevent burning Stacks of Corn and
Hay, and maiming of Cattle, by lewd Persons, in the
Night-time, was committed, several Amendments to be
made, and two Provisoes to be added, to the Bill: Which
Amendments were twice read; and, upon the Question,
agreed to.
The first of the said Provisoes being twice read; and
some Debate arising thereupon, and upon some other
Matters in the Bill relating thereto;
Resolved, That the Bill be re-committed, upon the
Debates of this House.
Heath's Petition.
Ordered, That the Petition of Sir Jo. Heath be read
To-morrow Morning, the First Business.
Corn and Salt Measures.
Ordered, That the Report of the Bill concerning
Measures be heard To-morrow Morning, the Second
Business.
Privilege- Persons discharged from Custody.
Ordered, That Mrs. Mary Santley be discharged of
the Breach of Privilege: And that Mr. Santley, her Son,
and the Officers concerned, be discharged of their Commitment, paying their Fees.
Union with Scotland.
The Question being put, Whether the House would
now proceed upon the adjourned Debate of the Union,
before the Reading of the Bill against Conventicles;

Ordered, That the Merchants be heard to their Complaints, in their Petition against the Farmers of Excise,
on Saturday Morning next: And that the said Farmers
do then bring in their Patent to this House, of the
Seventeenth Year of his Majesty's Reign.

Resolved, That the Debate of the Matter concerning
the Union be adjourned till To-morrow Morning Nine
