A BILL to regulate and increase the Art of Weaving,
was read the Second time.

Devon Writ.
A Motion being made, for issuing out a Writ, for electing another Knight of the Shire for the County of Devon,
in the stead of the now Duke of Albemarle, being not now
in a Capacity of sitting in this House;
And Information being given to the House, of an
Endeavour to forestal a free Election, by issuing out
Papers in the Nature of Warrants, to pre-engage the
Country, before any Writ issued:
And several of the Papers being delivered in at the
Table; and being, upon the Question, ordered to be
read; and read accordingly;
Resolved, &c. That the sending of Warrants, or Letters
in the Nature of Warrants, or Letters to High Constables,
or Constables, or other Officers, to be communicated to
the Freeholders, or other Electors, when a Knight of the
Shire, or other Member, is to be chosen to serve in Parliament; or threatening the Electors; is unparliamentary; and a Violation of the Right of Elections.
Resolved, &c. That Mr. Speaker do certify the Lord
Keeper of the Great Seal of England, that the now Duke
of Albemarle, who lately served as a Knight of the Shire
for the County of Devon, is not now in a Capacity of
sitting as a Member of this House; desiring him, that a
Writ may issue forth, under the Great Seal, for the
Election of a Knight of the Shire to serve in this present
Parliament, in his place and stead.
Committee of Grievances.
Ordered, That the Committee of Grievances do sit on
this Day Sevennight, to take into Consideration the
Matter appointed to be heard this Afternoon.
Supply Bill; Subsidies.
Resolved, &c. That the House will resolve into a Committee of the whole House, To-morrow Morning, Ten of
the Clock, to proceed in the further Consideration of the
Bill of Subsidies.
Committees.
Ordered, That all Committees that were to sit this
Afternoon, be adjourned till To-morrow, Two of the
Clock in the Afternoon; to sit in the Places formerly
appointed.
Committee of Elections.
Ordered, That Sir Edw. Seymour, Mr. Progers, Mr.
Golde, Mr. James, Mr. Williams, Mr. Dyott, be added
to the Committee of Elections.
