Prayers.
Privilege.
INFORMATION being given of a Breach of
Privilege, committed by one John Knight, now Mayor
of Bristoll, against Sir John Knight, a Member of this
House, by assaulting, and throwing him down in the
Street, when he was in the Execution of his Office, as
Justice of the Peace, and by the said Knight's arresting
one Richard Hyot, who did assist the said Sir John
Knight with a Simul cum in the Declaration, against
Sir John Knight.
Ordered, That the said John Knight be sent for, in
Custody of the Serjeant at Arms attending this House,
or his Deputy, to answer his Breach of Privilege.
Knight's Estate.
The ingrossed Bill, sent from the Lords, intituled,
An Act for settling the Manor of Portswood, and other
Lands, late of John Knight Gentleman, in the County,
and Town and County of Southampton, in John Parker
Serjeant at Law, Mr. William Morgan, and William
Bleverhassett of London Gentleman, to be sold, for
Payment of Debts, was read the Second time.
Resolved, &c. That the said Bill be committed to Sir
Robert Carr, Mr. Sacheverell, Sir Charles Harbord, Sir
John Knight, Sir Adam Browne, Sir John Mallet, Sir
Thomas Allen, Sir Edm. Pye, Sir Solomon Swale, Sir Thom.
Dolman, Mr. Hobby, Mr. Dowdswell, Colonel Sandis, Sir
John Talbot, Mr. Seymour, Mr. Price, Sir Robert Holt,

Conventicles.
Mr. Crouch reports from the Committee, to which
the Bill against Conventicles, was committed, That the
Committee had perused the Bill; and found no Cause
to make any Amendment therein.
But a Clause being tendered to be added to the Bill;
and a Debate thereupon, and upon other Matters, arising;
Resolved, That the Bill be re-committed, upon the Debates of the House; and that the Committee be revived;
and do sit this Afternoon, notwithstanding the Sitting of
the Grand Committee of Trade; and do make their Report
therein on Monday Morning next, at Ten of the Clock.
Privilege.
Upon Complaint made, of a Breach of Privilege
committed against Sir Trevor Williams, a Member of
this House, by one Herbert Jones, John, William, Edward, and Charles Williams, in causing and procuring
one William Morgan, menial Servant of Sir Trevor
Williams, to be arrested at a Fair at Carlyon in the
County of Monmouth, where he was employed by his
Master to sell certain fat and store Cattle, and forcing
him to put in special Bail, of Four hundred Pounds, for
his Appearance; although the said William Morgan
never owed the said Herbert Jones, John, William, Edward, and Charles Williams One Peny;
Ordered, That it be referred to the Committee of
Privileges, to examine the Matter of Breach of Privilege,
committed against the said Sir Trevor Williams, by the
said Herbert Jones, John, William, Edward, and Charles
Williams; and to report it, with their Opinion, to the
House: And the said Persons are, at their own Charge,
to attend the Committee, to answer such Matters as
shall be objected against them: And that the Action,
brought against the said Will. Morgan, be discharged.
Registry of Deeds, &c.
Ordered, That the Debate of the Matter touching a
publick Registry, be resumed on Tuesday Morning next,
at Ten of the Clock; nothing else to intervene.
Grocers Company's Creditors.
Ordered, That the Bill concerning the Grocers Company, be read the Second time on this Day Sevennight,
at Ten of the Clock.
Committee of Grievances.
Ordered, That the Committee of Grievances do sit
on Saturday next, in the Afternoon.
Dover Pier.
Mr. Secretary Trevor acquaints the House, that his
Majesty, upon the Address of the House, had issued a
Commission for taking the Account of the Monies raised
for the Repair of Dover Pier; and that the Commission
had been executed; and the Account returned in to his
Majesty: Whereby it did appear, there had not been
sufficient yet raised for the Repair of the Pier, as by the
Act of Parliament was intended; and that it was necessary
the Act should be continued for a longer Time:
And, upon Debate of the Matter,
Resolved, &c. That a Committee be appointed to look
into, and examine, the Account returned in, by virtue
of the Commission issued from his Majesty to take the
Account of the Monies raised for Repair of Dover Pier, to
see how much has been raised, and how employed; and
what will be further wanting for the finishing that Work;
and how it may best be raised; and to report the Matter,
with their Opinions therein, to the House: And it is
referred to Colonel Birch, Sir John Duncombe, Sir Thom.

Paris Garden made a Parish.
An ingrossed Bill for making the Manor of Paris
Garden a Parish; and to enable the Parishioners of St.
Saviour's Southwarke to raise a Maintenance for a Minister; and for Repair of their Church; was read.
A Proviso, on the Behalf of the Lord Bishop of
Winchester, was read Three times; and, upon the
Question, agreed to be made Part of the Bill.
Resolved, &c. That the Bill do pass: And that the
Title be, An Act for making the Manor of Paris Garden
a Parish; and to enable the Parishioners of St. Saviour's
Southwarke to raise a Maintenance for a Minister; and
for Repair of their Church.
Preventing Growth of Popery.
Ordered, That the Committee appointed for preventing
the Growth of Popery, be revived.
Supply Bill; Beer and Ale.
The House then resolved into a Committee of the whole
House, upon the additional Bill of Excise on Beer, and
Ale, and other Liquors, towards his Majesty's Supply.
Mr. Speaker left the Chair.
Mr. Seymour took the Chair of the Committee.
Mr. Speaker resumed the Chair.
Mr. Seymour reports from the said Committee, that
they had made some Progress in the said Bill; and humbly
moved, from the said Committee, that the House would
resolve into a Committee of the whole House again, on
Saturday Morning next, Ten of the Clock, to proceed
in the further Consideration thereof.
Resolved, &c. That this House doth agree with the
Committee, that the House do resolve into a Committee
of the whole House again, on Saturday Morning next,
Ten of the Clock, to proceed in the Consideration of
the Bill of Excise on Beer, Ale, and other Liquors.
Committees.
Ordered, That all Committees that were to sit this
Afternoon, be adjourned.
