Prayers.
Grocers Company.
A BILL to compel the Company of Grocers to pay
their just Debts, was read the Second time.
The Question being put, That the Bill be committed;
It passed in the Negative.
Conventicles.
Ordered, That the Report of the Bill against Conventicles, be heard To-morrow Morning.
Indigent Officers.
The indigent loyal Officers having consented and desired, that Mr. Birch may be Treasurer on their Behalf,
for receiving and distributing such Monies as shall be due
to them; and he being content to accept thereof;
Ordered, That it be referred to the Members last appointed to fill up the Blanks in the Bill on the Behalf of
the indigent loyal Officers, to bring in a Clause for constituting Mr. Birch Treasurer, on the Behalf of the indigent
loyal Officers, for receiving and distributing such Monies,
as shall be due and payable to the said Officers.
Lady Williams's Estate.
Ordered, That Sir Will. Doyley, Mr. John Wright,
Mr. Wood, Sir Edm. Poley, be added to the Committee
to which the Bill on the Behalf of the Lady Williams,
is committed.
Supply Bill; foreign Commodities.
The House resolved into a Committee upon the Bill
of additional Impositions on foreign Commodities.
Mr. Speaker left the Chair.
Mr. Seymour took the Chair of the Committee.
Mr. Speaker resumed the Chair.
Mr. Seymour reports from the said Committee, that
they had gone through the Bill; and made several Amendments, Alterations, and Additions thereunto.
Resolved, That the Report of the said Amendments
be made To-morrow Morning.

ORDERED, That the Committee to which the
Bill concerning the River Wey in the County of Surrey
is committed, be revived; and do sit To-morrow
Morning.
Workhouses.
The House then proceeded to the Hearing of the Matter, touching the Workhouses for setting the Poor on
Work, upon the Petition of some of the Governors for
the Corporation of the Poor: Which Petition being shewed
unto, and owned by, the Persons who subscribed the same,
at the Bar of the House; and the Petition being read,
and the Matter between them and the Parishioners of the
Parish of St. Giles in the Fields, and other Parishes, complaining, being heard; and the Matter afterward debated
in the House;
Resolved, &c. That this House is satisfied for any
thing yet appearing, that the Justices of the Peace for the
County of Middlesex have behaved themselves faithfully,
in pursuance of the Powers given them by the Act of
Parliament for Relief of the Poor.
Resolved, &c. That this House is satisfied that the
Governors of the Corporations for the Poor have behaved themselves well in the Execution of the Powers
given them by the former Act, for any thing that appeared to this House this Day.
Resolved, &c. That it be an Instruction to the Committee to which the Bill touching the Corporation for
the Poor is committed, That the Power of Nomination
of the Governors for the Corporations for Relief of the
Poor shall continue as it is now established by the former
Law: And that it be referred to the Committee to rectify
the Bill accordingly.
Ordered, That it be referred to the same Committee to
consider the Powers in the former Act for the raising of
Money; and to limit the Sum of Money which shall be
raised.
