Bridport Writ.

ORDERED, That Mr. Speaker do issue out his Warrant to the Clerk of the Crown, to make a new Writ for the Election of a Member to serve in this present Parliament for the Borough of Bridport in the County of Dorsett, in the room of Colonel Humphrey Bishopp, lately deceased.

Lord Maynard's Estate.

An ingrossed Bill, sent from the Lords, for rectifying a Mistake in a general Settlement of the Lord Maynard's Estate, upon the Marriage of his Son, was read the Second time.

Ordered, That the Matter concerning the Bill for draining Lyndsey Level be heard at the Bar of this House, on the First Wednesday after Christmas next.

Ordered, That Summons be delivered in Writing to the Ministers of the several Churches of the Parishes, Towns, and Villages hereunder named; or, in their Absence, to be left at their Houses, to be by them published in their several Churches, after Divine Service, Ten Days or more before the First Wednesday after Christmas next and also to fix it at the several Church Doors: And That to be a sufficient Summons. And it is likewise Ordered, That this Summons be also left with the High Constables of the several Hundreds or Wapentakes of Aveland, Aswardhurne, Kirton, and Elloe; to give Notice, that this House will proceed in the Hearing of this Cause, at the Bar of this House, upon the Bill now depending, on the First Wednesday after Christmas next, for settling the Draining of the Fens called Lyndsey Level in the County of Lincolne; whereof the Lords Owners and Commoners within the said Level are to take Notice; and this Summons to be counted sufficient.

Supply Bill; Shipbuilding.

A Bill for raising a Supply for the Building, and towards the Guns, Rigging, and other Furnishing of Twenty Ships of War; and for appropriating the Customs to the Use of the Navy, was read the First time.

Davis' Estate.

Mr. Speaker, the Lords have sent down to this House, a Bill, intituled, * * * * to which they desire the Concurrence of this House: And have commanded us to let you know, that they have agreed to the Bill to enable Trustees to sell Lands for Payment of the Debts of Alexander Davis Gentleman, deceased, without any Alteration.

Privilege-Petition from a person in custody.

A Petition of Adam Decardonnell, in Custody of the Serjeant at Arms attending this House, for a Breach of Privilege, and Misdemeanor, in aspersing Sir Robert Holmes, a Member of this House, and reflecting upon the other Members of this House, being read; whereby he acknowledgeth his Offence, and submits himself to the Pleasure of the House;

Resolved, &c. That the said Adam Decardonnell, having submitted himself to the Favour of this House, be discharged of his Commitment, paying his Fees.

Privilege-prosecuting Appeals against Members.

Ordered, That Thomas Sherley Esquire be taken into Custody of the Serjeant at Arms now attending this House, for his Breach of Privilege, in prosecuting an Appeal in the House of Lords, against Sir John Fagg, a Member of this House.

The House being informed, that Sir Nicholas Staughton did Yesterday serve Mr. Onslow, a Member of this House, in Westminster Hall, with an Order of the House of Lords, for hearing an Appeal brought there by the said Sir Nicholas Staughton against the said Mr. Onslow, on the * Day of November instant; and that he refused to retract the same, after he had Notice of the Resolution of this House; made Yesterday, about Appeals to the Lords from Courts of Equity;

Ordered, That Sir Nicholas Staughton be taken into Custody of the Serjeant at Arms now attending this House, for his Breach of Privilege, in prosecuting an Appeal in the House of Lords, against Mr. Onslow, a Member of this House.

Ordered, That Mr. Onslow do not proceed to make any Defence in this Cause.

Bribery at Elections.

Ordered, That the Committee of Elections and Privileges do, in the first Place, proceed upon the Paper committed to them, to prevent Bribery, and excessive Drinking, in Elections of Members to serve in Parliament; and report the same on Monday Morning next.

Plater's Estate.

A Bill to enable * Plater to sell Lands for Payment of Debts, tendered; and accepted.

Repairing Highways.

A Bill for the better Repairing and Amending the Highways, tendered; and accepted.
