The Lord Keeper acquainted the House, "That Her Majesty had sent a Commission for the further proroguing of the Parliament."

The House was adjourned during Pleasure.

The House was resumed.

D. of Leeds takes his Seat.

This Day Peregrine Duke of Leeds fat first in Parliament, after the Death of his Father Thomas Duke of Leeds; and took the Oaths, and made and subscribed the Declaration, and also took and subscribed the Oath of Abjuration, pursuant to the Statutes.

E. of Linlithgow takes the Oaths.

Also James Earl of Linlithgow took the Oaths, and made and subscribed the Declaration, and also took and subscribed the Oath of Abjuration, pursuant to the Statutes.

Then the Lords Commissioners (in their Robes), being seated on a Form placed between the Throne and the Woolsack; the Lord Keeper in the Middle; with the Lord Treasurer on his Right Hand; and the Lord President on his Left; commanded the Gentleman Usher of the Black Rod to let the Commons know, "That the Commissioners desire their immediate Attendance in the House of Peers, to hear the Commission read."

Who being come, with their Speaker; the same was read by the Clerk, as follows:

De Fidelitate igitur, Prudentia, & Circumspectionibus vestris plurimum considentes, de Avisamento & Assensu Concilii Nostri, assignavimus vos Commissionarios Nostros; dantes vobis, & aliquibus Tribus vel pluribus vestrum, Tenore Præsentium, plenam Potestatem & Auctoritatem, hoc instante Die Martis, ad præsens Parliamentum Nostrum, Nomine Nostro, usque ad & in Diem Martis, Tertium Diem Martii nunc prox. sequen. apud prædictam Civitatem Nostram Westmonaster. prorogandum & continuandum, ibidemque tunc tenendum & prosequendum; & ideo vobis mandamus, quod circa Præmissa diligenter intendatis, ac ea in Forma prædicta effectualiter expleatis. In cujus Rei Testimonium, has Literas Nostras fieri fecimus Patentes.

Then the Lord Keeper said,

Parliament prorogued.

"My Lords, and Gentlemen of the House of Commons,

"By Virtue of Her Majesty's Commission to us directed, and now read, we do, in Her Majesty's Name, further prorogue this present Parliament to Tuesday the Third Day of March next: And this Parliament is accordingly prorogued to Tuesday the Third Day of March next."
