from the House of Commons, to the Message sent on
Wednesday last to them
That they do agree to the Nomination of the Deputy
Lieutenants for the County of Northumb
1 d Paget re leased and to take the Co venant
Upon reading the Petition of Wm Lord Pagett,
Humbly acknowledging, with all Thankfulness, their
Lordships Goodness unto him, in his favourable
Imprisonment at his Mother's House, unto which he
hath hitherto cheartully submitted, as he shall ever do
to all other their Lordships Commands, but now, by
reason of the Streightness of the Place, and his Want
of Health, he is an earnest and humble Suitor to
their Lordships, that he may further taste of their
Favour to him, in his Enlargement, and, to manifest his Resolution to live and die with the Parliament, it is his Desire to take the National Covenant
whensoever their Lordships shall appoint
Hereupon this House Ordered, That the Lord Pagett
shall be presently released from his present (fn. †) Imprisonment, and shall have Liberty to go any Way within
Twenty Miles from the Cities of London and Westm and
that his Lordship do take the National Covenant Tomorrow Morning
Col Massie in Monmouth shire desires Supplies.
The Earl of Pembrooke acquainted this House with
a Letter, directed to him, from Colonel Massie, dated
the 30th of September, from Monmouth, being a Narrative of his Proceedings in Monmouthshire, and of his
Wants of Supply of Monies, and a competent Strength,
whereby he may be the better able to reduce those Parts,
and to oppose those Forces which are there
Hereupon this House Ordered, To have a Conference To-morrow Morning with the House of Com
mons, concerning this Letter, (fn. *) and the Messenger
that searched the Countess of Peterboroughs House

That this House agrees in the Ordinance concerning
Five Hundred Pounds to be paid to Major General Sk ppon, and the One Hundred Pounds for Medicaments for
the Lord Generals Army To the rest of the Particulars,
their Lordships will take the same into Consideration,
and send an Answer by Messengers of their own
Archbishop of Cants Trial.
Next, the Counsel of the Archbishop of Canterbury
was heard, to argue, "Whetner, in all or any of the
Articles charged against the Archbishop of Canterbury, there be contained any Treason?"
Order for the Commissioners of Excise to reimburse themselves 500 l advanced to Serjeant Major General Skippon
"Whereas John Towse Esquire, Alderman of the
City of London, and the rest of the Commissioners of
Excise and new Impost, have advanced and lent the
Sum of Five Hundred Pounds, for and towards the
Payment of Part of the Pay due to Serjeant Major
General Skippon, upon his own Entertainment Be it
Ordained, by the Lords and Commons in Parliament
assembled, That the said Commissioners of Excise
shall and may satisfy and reimburse themselves, with
Interest for the same after the Rate of Eight Pounds
per Cent for so long Time as the same, or any Part
thereof, shall be forborn, out of such Intervals of
Time as other Payments shall not happen to fall due,
or, for Want of such Intervals, then as the same
shall follow in Course, and shall not, by any Order or
Ordinance of One or both House, of Parliament, be
excluded from satisfying themselves accordingly"
Order for 100 l to Webb, for Medicines for the Lord General's Army
"Ordered, by the Lords and Commons in Parliament assembled, That the Committee at Hoblerdashers Hall do forthwith advance, upon Accompt,
One Hundred Pounds unto Abraham Webb, Apothecary, for furnishing Medicaments for the Service of
my Lord General's Army"
