Blackwell's Petition, to be confirmed in the Parsonage of Mersham.
Upon reading the Petition of Wm. Blackwell Minister; sheweth, "That whereas he was placed, by
the Committee for plundered Ministers, at Mersham,
in Surry, with the Approbation of the Assembly
of Divines, in the room of Dr. Buckner, who was
sequestered by the said Committee, which Living
was formerly in the Gift of the late Archbishop of
Canterbury, as belonging to that Archbishopric; and
forasmuch as, by the Vacancy of the said Archbishopric, and by the Death of the said Dr. Buckner, the Estate and Condition of the said Parsonage,
as to the Presentation thereof by this Avoidance,
doth remain altered since the Petitioner was so put
into the Possession thereof; and lest some other by
this Means might be presented upon this Alteration,
he humbly desires their Lordships to confirm him in
the Incumbency and Possession thereof; and to give
such Direction, that he may be now admitted, instituted, and inducted, into the same, in such Way as
in their Lordships Wisdoms shall be thought fit."
Hereupon this House Ordered, To recommend this
Petition to the House of Commons; and desire their
Concurrence, that the said Petitioner may be instituted
and inducted into the said Parsonage of Mersham, in
the County of Surry.
Turner and Wilgrice.
Upon reading the Petition of Thomas Turner: It is
Ordered, That the Cause between him and Wilgrice
shall be heard at this Bar this Day Three Weeks; and
the Parties whom it concerns are to have Notice to
(fn. *) attend accordingly.
Message from the H. C. to expedite the Ordinance for the Army to be under the Command of Sir T. Fairfax.
A Message was brought from the House of Commons, by Sir Christopher Yelverton Knight and Baronet:
That whereas the House of Commons sent up an
Ordinance for establishing the Army; for divers Reasons, they desire their Lordships would give Expedition
therein, not only because the King's Army is drawing
into a Body, but because the Time of the Year draws on
for the Army to be in the Field, which will be of
Reputation and Advantage to the Proceedings of the
Parliament.
The Answer returned was:
Answer.
That their Lordships will take their Message into
Consideration, and send an Answer by Mesengers of
their own.
Next, the Ordinance for establishing the Army, was
read Once.
Message to the H. C. with Blackwell's Petition, and the E. India Company's.
A Message was sent to the House of Commons; by
Sir Edward Leech and Dr. Heath:
To deliver the Petition of Mr. Blackwell unto them;
and desire their Concurrence, that he may be instituted
and inducted, as is desired.
2. To recommend the Petition of the India Company
to them, and to desire (fn. *) they will take it into Consideration.
The Answer returned was:

That they will send an Answer, by Messengers of
their own.
Author and Printer of The Parliament Scout to remain in Custody.
Ordered, That the Author and the Printer of The
Parliament Scout shall remain in Custody till To-morrow
Morning; and then this House will take the Business into
Consideration.
