Edmund
First preb. in cats., 'Edmundus'. Occ. as can. twice only: 1103/4 (WD 4 fo. 40/
44r-v, pd. in Rep. p. 65a), and 1104/5 (WD 4 fo. 19/23r-v, pd. in Rep. p. 61b). Possibly
to be identified with Edmund son of Algot, who occ. holding a mill in Stepney of bp.
of London in 1086 (Domesday Book 1 fo. 127b), and with Edmund brother of Raulf
son of Algot, who occ. early twelfth cent. (Liber Vitae Dunelm.: Facsimile, ed. A. H.
Thompson (Surtees Soc. cxxxvi) fo. 42r). Perhaps, therefore, brother of Ralph son of
Algod, preb. of Rugmere (see below p. 74).
William [de Mareni]
Occ. in cats. between Edmund and Nigel of Calne, 'Willelmus decanus'. Almost
certainly to be identified with William de Mareni, who does not occ. as can., but
became dean by July 1111. Prob. transf. to preb. of Totenhall after 1112 or 1113.
