Swain's Ordinance to be Minister of Stonham.
An Ordinance was presented to the House, for presenting Mr. John Swaine to the Church of Stonham, in
the County of Suffolke.
It was read, and Agreed to; and Ordered to be sent to
the House of Commons, for their Concurrence.
Lady Slyngsby's Petition, for a Maintenance.
Upon reading the Petition of the Lady Slingsby, Widow; desiring "she may have something allowed her to
subsist withall."
It is Ordered, To be recommended to the House of
Commons.
L. Dowera's Funeral Expences.
Upon reading the Petition of Samuell Pryor, "That
the Houses would please to order some Monies for the
Funeral of the Lord Dowcra, be having served in Ireland against the Rebels there."
It is Ordered, To be sent to the House of Commons.
Hodges and Steward.
Upon reading the Petition of Wm. Hodges: It is
Ordered, That Mr. Walter Steward shall have a Copy
of this Petition, and return his Answer by Wednesday
next.
Burly and Bateman.
This Day being appointed for hearing Counsel to
argue the Errors in the Writ of Error between Burly
Plaintiff and Bateman Defendant; the Counsel for the
Defendant were present: But the Counsel for the Plaintiff
did not appear, though the Plaintiff was served with the
Order for Hearing, as appeared by Affidavit read at the
Bar.
Upon this, the House proceeded to hear the Counsel
of the Defendant.
And the House taking the same into Consideration;
Ordered and Adjudged, That the said Judgement in
the Court of King's Bench is confirmed; and that the Writ
be remitted into the Court of King's Bench, that so Execution may be taken off accordingly.
Confession of Faith to be printed.
The Remainder of the Articles of Confession of Faith,
was read the First Time.
And it is Ordered, That Mr. Byfield, One of the
Scribes of the Assembly, shall take Care that such a
Number of Books be printed as will serve for the Members of both Houses and their Assistants, and no more.
Order to secure the Parliament and City.
The Earl of Northumb. reported, "That the Committee for the Army have met; and, upon Advice with
the Committee for the Militia of London, have framed
an Ordinance for securing the Parliament and the City
of London:" Which was offered to the Consideration of
this House, and read Twice, and Ordered to be committed to a Committee of the whole House.
And accordingly the House was adjourned into a Committee during Pleasure, to debate it.
The House was resumed.
This Question was put, "Whether these Words,
(videlicet,) ["shall be apprehended, imprisoned,
and proceeded against as a Traytor."]?"
And it was Resolved in the Affirmative.
Then the said Ordinance was read the Third Time, as
it came from the House of Commons.
And the Question being put, "Whether to agree to
this Ordinance?"
It was Resolved in the Affirmative.
Ordered, That this Ordinance be sent to the House
of Commons for their Concurrence.
Sir J. Corbett and Sir T. Walsingham.
The Earl of Denbigh reported from the Committee,
That Sir Thomas Walsingham and Sir John Corbett are
agreed; therefore desired that the House would read
the Ordinance, and pass it:" Which accordingly was
done, and Agreed to. (Here enter it.)
Message to the H C about the following Particulars.
A Message was sent to the House of Commons, by
Sir Edward Leech and Mr Page
1 To deliver to them the Ordinance for sending
Malignants out of Town, and desire their speedy Concurrence therein
2 To deliver to them the Survey of the Earl of
Worster's Land to be passed to Mr Pennoyer
3 To deliver to them the Report concerning Mr
Johnson and Mr Knight, and to desire them that they
would order that they may have their Money paid
them, they having been ready to disburse Monies for
the Use of the Service, and forward in the Service of
the Parliament
Ordinance for Sir John Corbett to have the Manor of Milton
"Ordered, by the Lords and Commons assembled
in Parliament, That Sir John Corbett, for Reparation
of his Losses and Damages sustained by the Kings
Forces, shall have the Benefit of the Manor of Milton,
in the County of Bucks, being the Estate of William
Stafford Esquire, and now in Mortgage to Sir Lewis
Wattson a Delinquent, and discovered by the said Sir
John Corbett, until the said Mortgage money shall be
satisfied to the said Sir John Corbett or his Assigns,
and that it be referred to the Committee of Lords
and Commons for Sequestiations, to order the Advantage of the same Estate unto him accordingly"
