Footnotes

2 John Hickes B.D. was coll. 24 Apr. 1615 on the alleged d. of Henry Smith (Inst. AB 4 f. 98), and instal. 27 Apr. (AC 1565-1634 f. 495r-v), but the entries were cancelled. A note to the cancelled coll. entry reads, 'This is void by reason the last Incu[m]bent Dr Smith was living at the time of the making hereof.' Hickes became preb. of North Newbald in Nov. 1615.
1 Hunter gives the year as 1753, but this is obviously an error (cf. ibid. p. 304). Goodwin was buried at Tankersley 2 Oct. 1752 (PRT Tankersley 1752).
