Langdale claimed preb., but queen issued writ of Quare impedit 23 Jan. 1560 in favour of Sir William Paget K.G., Lord Paget of Beaudesert, ordering the instit. of his nominee; Thomas Paget pres. by Sir William Paget; instil, by abp. of Canterbury sede vacante 4 March (preb. vac. by d. of last = Whitby ?) (Reg. Parker I 223). Paget compounded for first-fruits 5 March (P.R.O., E 334/7 f. 51v). Walkenden occ. 21 Sept. 1560, when gr. lease of preb, to Thomas Paget for 99 years from Michaelmas 1560 (P.R.O., C 66/ 1391).
