M. Alexander of Dorset
In royal service in Yorks. by Michaelmas 1205 (Pipe Roll 7 John (PRS new
ser. xix, 1941) p. 38); had church of Knaresborough (W.R.) from 1208 (Rot. Litt.
Pat. p. 82a; Rot. Chart. p. 215a). Preb. Strensall by royal coll. 20 Sept. 1215, but
evidently ineffective (list 42). Royal coll. to this preb. in succession to M. Peter
of Sherburn, with mandate to install, s.v., 20 Jan. 1216 (Rot. Litt. Pat. p. 164a).
No other occ. as can. Royal justice and administrator, last occ. 31 Oct. 1228 (Pat.
Rolls 1225-32 p. 225). D. by 17 March 1233 (Close Rolls 1231-34 pp. 197, 201-2). Evidently res. this preb. by May or June 1226 (below).

An unnamed preb. was non-resident 1286 and preb. was farmed to M. Henry of
Newark, archdcn. of Richmond (Reg. Romeyn I 356), who was prob. farmer of
preb. earlier, when he occ. at Ulleskelf 18 June 1283 (Chs. Bridlington p. 434).
