E. of Rothes takes the Oaths.
This Day John Earl of Rothes took the Oaths, and
made and subscribed the Declaration, and also took and
subscribed the Oath of Abjuration, pursuant to the
Statutes.
Russell to enter into Recognisance for Touchet.
Upon reading the Petition of James Touchet Esquire;
praying, "In regard he lives and resides in the City of
Dublin; that Josiah Russell, of The Inner Temple, London, Gentleman, his Agent, may enter into a Recognizance for him, upon his Appeal depending in this
House:"
It is Ordered, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal
in Parliament assembled, That the said Josiah Russell may
enter into a Recognizance for the Petitioner, provided no
Objection appears to the Sufficiency of his Security.
Woolaston versus Attorney General, &c.
Upon reading the Petition and Appeal of Richard
Woollaston Esquire and Sir Biby Lake Baronet, complaining of a Decree of the Court of Exchequer, made the
Eighteenth of June 1713, in a Cause wherein Sir Edward Northey Knight, Attorney General, at the Relation
of Elizabeth Preston, Executrix of Thomas Preston Esquire,
deceased, was Plaintiff, and the Appellants were Defendants; and praying, "That the same may be reversed and set aside:"
It is Ordered, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal
in Parliament assembled, That the said Attorney General and the said Relatrix may have a Copy of the said
Appeal; and shall and are hereby required to put in their
Answer thereunto, in Writing, on or before Wednesday
the Fourth Day of May next.
E. Abingdon and E. Ferrers, for a Bill concerning Education of E. Clanriccard's Sons, &c.
Upon reading the Petition of Montague Earl of
Abingdon and Robert Earl Ferrers; praying Leave to
bring in a Bill, for explaining and better executing the
Intentions of an Act of Parliament passed in Her late
Majesty's Reign (among other Things) for educating of
the Sons of John now Earl of Clanriccard in the Protestant Religion (the Petitioners being the surviving
Guardians appointed by the said Act for such Education); and also for Sale of Part of the said Earl's
Estate, for Payment of the Debts and Portions which
the same is still subject to (preserving and securing to
the said Earl his present Maintenance for his Life:)
It is Ordered, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the Consideration
of the said Petition be, and is hereby, referred to Mr.
Baron Bury and Mr. Baron Price; who, having examined such Persons as they shall think proper, are to
report to the House whether the Bill desired by the
said Petition be reasonable or not.
Trustees for stopping Dagenham Breach, in The Thames: Papers delivered.
The House being informed, "That a Person from
the Trustees, appointed by an Act of Parliament,
passed the last Session, for the speedy and effectual
preserving the Navigation of the River of Thames,
by stopping the Breach in the Levels of Havering
and Dagenham, in the County of Essex, attended;"
he was called in, and delivered, at the Bar, Two Papers
(pursuant to the Directions of the said Act) intituled,
Dagenham Breach Contract, and Dagenham Breach
Accompt."
And withdrew.
And the said Titles were read.
Ordered, That the said Accompt and Contract do
lie on the Table, to be perused by the Lords.
