EDITORIAL NOTE
The third volume of the Victoria History of the County of Buckingham
was so far advanced when the work on it fell into abeyance on the outbreak
of war, that it has been found necessary to publish the volume without
bringing the contents up to date. In expressing his indebtedness to all
those who have assisted in the preparation of this work, the Editor has to
deplore the deaths of several members of his staff and other helpers who
have died, some on the battlefield, during the decade that has elapsed
since the work on the volume ceased. For information and access to
