PRAYERS.
Dunstable Lecturer.
ORDERED, That, upon the Desire of the Parishioners of Dunstable, to have a Lecture erected and
Established, and that it may be supplied by these neighbouring Ministers following, to be Lecturers, to preach
Weekly, every Wednesday; and that the Vicar of the
said Parish of Dunstable do permit the said Ministers to
exercise the Function of their Ministry on the said Day,
without any Lett or Interruption;
Mr. Woolfall, Mr. Kentish, Mr. Carre, Mr. Fawcett,
Mr. Kinge, Mr. Symms, Mr. Kidner, Mr. Marriatt, Mr.
Holmes, Mr. Fisher, Mr. Bailie, Mr. Blackwell, Mr.

Proceedings against Dowdeswell.
A Petition, and divers Articles annexed, were this Day
preferred against Mr. Dodeswell, an Attorney, who was
sent for, as a Delinquent, and is now remaining in the
Serjeant's Custody: The which Articles were read.
And one Mr. Whitledge was called in: Who did attest
most of the Articles, part of his own Knowledge, part by
Report from very sufficient Witnesses.
One Mr. Wilson was likewise called in; and did, of his
own Knowledge, attest some of the Articles.
Mr. Richard Dowdeswell was afterwards called in; and
being demanded of every Article, denied almost everyone.
Then the Witnesses and Mr. Dowdeswell were confronted; and did before him attest the Articles, as formerly they had done.
Wm. Combe, that served the Warrant upon Mr.
Dowdeswell, was called in; and did Witness, That Mr.
Dowdeswell being served, he said, That "You must not
think to fetch me up upon this Paper, where there is no
Christian Name, [and my Surname mistaken:] I am not
so ill-beloved in Tewkesbury."
Resolved, That Mr. Dowdeswell shall stand committed
to the Serjeant's Custody, till the House take farther Order: And that the Examination of the whole Business be
referred to the Committee for Informations: And are to
make a Report to the House with all convenient Speed.
Messages to Lords.
Mr. Whittlock carried up to the Lords the Order for
Oxfordshire; and for the Officers of the Ordnance in the
Tower, enlarged to the Officers of the Armoury in the
Tower likewise; and likewise the Order for hindering
Ordnance to be carried from Bristoll to Worcester.
Worcester Magazine.
That the Bailiffs of the Town of Droitwich in the
County of Worcester shall retain and keep such Part of
the Magazine of the said County as is remaining in the
said County.
Banishing Capuchins.
THE Lords and Commons now in Parliament
assembled, beholding the Hand of God gone out against
this Kingdom, in a Civil War, already begun in the
Land; and looking higher than to the pernicious Councellors of it, or wicked Instruments employed in it; and
laying to Heart the Displeasure of Almighty God for
our many crying Sins, among which none doth more
provoke the Eyes of his Jealousy, than the Abomination
of Idolatry, and false worship; and notwithstanding his
Majesty's Proclamations for the Banishing of all Jesuits
and Priests (the Bringers in and Maintainers of this cursed
Sin), and the strict Command of the Lords and Commons,
for the speedy Sending of all Capuchin Friars out of this
Land; yet, through the Remissness of those intrusted in
that Service, the said Priests and Capuchins do still continue in or about the Suburbs of London, to the farther
Incensing of the Wrath of God against this Nation, the
Poisoning of the Minds and Consciences of his Majesty's
Subjects, and the apparent Danger of this Church and
State; do therefore Order, That all the Capuchin Friars
at Sommersett House, shall be forthwith removed out of
his Majesty's Dominions; and all the Monuments of
Idolatry which are there set up, demolished.
Delivery of Saddles, &c.
Ordered, That Mr. Long shall have the Saddles, Arms,
and Pistols, and other Things received by Captain
Methold and others, from Captain Trenchard, and now
in the Custody of them, delivered unto him, that he may
make Use of such of them as shall be useful for him, upon
Account, that he may be responsible for them at his Return from the Service that he is now employed upon for
the Service of King and Parliament.
Ireland.
Whereas the distressed Estate of Ireland, steeped in

Ships for Irish Coasts.
Ordered, by the Lords and Commons, That, for the
better Security of Ireland, repressing the Rebellion there,
and securing the Seas from Pirates, and others that interrupt the Intercourse betwixt the Kingdoms, that the Earl
of Warwick do forthwith send Two of the Ships under his
Command, to attend that Service: And his Lordship is
hereby authorized to appoint Commanders of the said
Ships, and all other the Ships already upon the Coast of
Ireland; straightly charging and injoining all Captains,
Masters, and Mariners, to be obedient to such Order and
Directions as they shall receive from his Lordship, and to
such Admiral, and other Commander in Chief, as shall
be appointed by him in that Behalf.

and the Order for putting down Stage Plays.
Countess of Portland.
Resolved, upon the Question, That the Lords be moved
that the Countess of Portland, now in the Castle of
Carisbrooke, in the Isle of Wight, may be removed from
thence, and from the Island.
Restraining Tumults in Essex.
A Declaration concerning the Restraining the Riots
and Tumults in Essex, was this Day read; and assented
unto, by Vote upon the Question; and carried up to the
Lords: And ordered, by Vote upon the Question, to be
printed.
King's Letter to Mayor of Boston, &c.
A Letter from his Majesty to the Mayor of the Town
of Boston, of the 30th of August, requiring the Delivery
of certain Trunks, Hampers, and Cabinets, landed on Skegney Shore, which, as his Majesty says, belong to Prince
Rupert; and the Answer of the Mayor of Boston, of the
31st of August, to his Majesty's Letter; and likewise a
Warrant under Mr. Heron's Name the High Sheriff, directed to the High Constable of the Wapentake of Skirbeck, for Providing of Draught-horses for the King's
Artillery at Nottingham.
Ordered, That Mr. Ellis prepare a Letter of Thanks
to be sent to Boston.

Design of bringing in Foreign Forces.
Ordered, That it be referred to the Committee for the
Defence of the Kingdom, to consider of a Declaration
to be drawn, to be published to the Kingdom, to inform
them of a Design of Mr. Germaine, and others, to bring
in Foreign Forces into this Kingdom: And that it be recommended to Mr. Strictland in Holland, to acquaint
the States herewith.
Information concerning Lawkner.
Sir Wm. Lewis informed the House, That Mr. Lewkner is in Portesmouth, and hath been with Col. Goringe
there, ever since he betrayed the Trust the Parliament
put in him; and that on Sunday Night last they had a
Parley; and the Colonel sent forth Mr. Lukener as one
of the Hostages, for the Return of those of the Committee of this House that went into the Town.
Lewkner disabled to sit.
Resolved, upon the Question, That Mr. Chr. Lukener
shall be disabled for continuing any longer a Member of
this House: And that Mr. Speaker do grant his Warrant
for the Issuing out of a Writ for the Election of another
Burgess to serve in his Stead.
