Pass for Packington.

THE humble Petition of Abigail Packington Widow, desiring to travel into Holland, with Richard Burford, Rich. Edwards, and Humphrey Lutley, her domestick Men-servants, and Dorothy Mallory, Joan Cozens, and Anne Cooke, her Maid-servants, was this Day read: And

It is Ordered, That she shall have Mr. Speaker's Warrant to travel with her Servants aforesaid, accordingly.

Ecclesiastical Courts.

Mr. Prideaux, Mr. Bagshaw, Mr. Solicitor, Mr. Young, Mr. Bond, Sir Jo. Bamfield, Mr. Trenchard, Mr. Whittacre, Mr. Noble, Mr. Buller, * Pelham, * Holland, * Wheeler, * Pye, * Goodwyn, * Heblethwayte, Mr. Selden, are to make a Declaration concerning Ecclesiastical Courts, that they shall proceed upon those Statutes that are in Force touching Tythes: And are to meet this Afternoon, at Two of Clock, in the Exchequer Chamber.

Affairs at Plymouth, &c.

A Letter from the Mayor of Plymouth, of October 14th; and a Letter inclosed, from the Mayor of Saltash, concerning the Cavaliers coming thither.

Resolved, That the Mayor of Plymouth shall be reimbursed the Monies he has disbursed upon the publick Occasions, out of the Monies that are or shall come in within that Town upon the Propositions: And that, if he shall disburse more than shall come in upon the Propositions, that then he shall have the publick Faith for the Repayment of it.

Person sent for in Custody.

Resolved, upon the Question, That Mr. Trelawny shall be forthwith sent for, in safe Custody, at his own Charges.

Defence of Devon, &c.

Resolved, That the Treasurers in London, for the Monies that come in upon the Propositions, do forthwith pay out of the said Money Two thousand Pounds, to Sir Gilbert Gerard, Treasurer at Wars, to be by him paid to Sir Jo. Bamfield, and Mr. Waddon, to be employed for the Defence and Safety of the Counties of Devon and Cornewall.

Loan for Coventry.

Ordered, That Mr. Jesson, a Member of this House, be desired to furnish presently a Thousand Pounds for Supply of the present Necessity of the Town of Coventry: The which the House will take as a very good Service, and as a Testimony of that Affection he owes to that Town: And do promise that he shall be repaid the same Sum of One thousand Pounds out of the Fifteen hundred Pounds-worth of Plate sent up from that City, so soon as it can be coined.

Windsore Castle.

Ordered, That it be recommended to the Committee for the Defence of the Kingdom, to take some especial Care of Windsore Castle.

King's Instructions to Lord Lieut. of Ireland.

Mr. Pym reported from the Conference, the Instructions given by his Majesty, unto the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland: The which were offered to the House, but not read; but delivered to Mr. Pym again.

Lord Chief Justice.

Mr. Barrell, a Clerk in the King's Bench, who informed a Member of this House, that the Lord Chief Justice of the King's Bench had received a Writ of Ease, or Supersedeas, to discharge him from that Place;

Mr. Barrell was again called in; and injoined to make his Repair, presently, to the House of the Lord Chief Justice of the King's Bench; and desire him to certify this House, whether he had received any Writ of Ease; and to send a Copy of That; and likewise of his Commission or Writ, whereby he is called to that Place: And Mr. Richardson, a Servant to the Lord Chief Justice of the King's Bench, is injoined to go with Mr. Barrell.

Proceedings concerning Norrick.

Mr. Tho. Norrick of Bury St. Edmonds, who was summoned to appear, in that he, being demanded what he would do upon the Propositions, answered, That he had no Money; that the Pretence was fair.

But was called in: And being demanded, whether he would insist upon this Answer; said, That No; but was very willing to contribute according to his Ability; but that he was a poor Tradesman.

Lord Chief Justice.

Resolved, That a Conference shall be desired with the Lords, concerning the Lord Chief Justice having received a Writ of Ease: And that this House holds Justice Berkley to be the fittest of the Three that are left, to sit, upon Thursday next, upon the Essoigns.

Mr. Solicitor, Mr. Bagshaw, Mr. Rowse, are appointed Managers of this Conference.

Message to Lords.

Mr. Morley went up to desire this Conference: And carried up to the Lords, the Order concerning the Forty thousand Pounds of the Brotherly Assistance, out of the Strangers Money: The Order concerning Apprehend... the Adherents to Marquis Herts: The Order concerning Two thousand Pounds to be employed for the Counties of Devon and Cornewall.

Proceedings against Price, &c.

Resolved, That Mr. Price, High Sheriff of the County of Surrey, Mr. Bailiff Cordrey, and Mr. William Knightley, be forthwith sent for, as Delinquents.

Ordered, That the Committee intrusted in the County of Surrey, to put the Propositions for Advancing of Horse, Money, and Plate, in Execution, shall have Power, and be required, to disarm Mr. Price High Sheriff of the said County, Mr. Bailiff Cordrey, and Mr. Will. Knightley; and to disarm, and to secure, Mr. Snelling junior, Mr. Job Weale, Mr. Tho. Brandling, Mr. Geo. Goldwyer, Mr. Nich. Browne, Mr. Roger Clerke, Mr. Robert Kidwell, Mr. Henry Dixon, Mr. Geo. Gildon, Sir Tho. Reynolds of Waybridge, according to the Order and Vote of both Houses, of the Fifteenth of this present October.

Raising Horse, &c.

Resolved, &c. That the Committee in the several Counties, intrusted with the Execution of the Propositions for the Raising of Horse, Money, or Plate, shall have Power to secure or disarm such Persons as they shall find refractory to the Advancing of that Service, according to the Votes of both Houses.

Irish Affairs.

Ordered, That the Committee for the Affairs of Ireland do proceed in the Dispatching of the Business of that Kingdom.

Lord Lieut, of Ireland.

Ordered, That To-morrow Morning, at Nine of the Clock, the House do take into Consideration the Lord Lieutenant's going over into Ireland.

Mr. Morley brings Answer, The Lords have agreed to the Orders he carried up; and will give a present Meeting, as is desired.

Judge Barkley.

A Message from the Lords, by Dr. Aylett and Dr. Heath;

That the Lords do agree with this House, in having Judge Barkley to come on the Essoign Day to the King's Bench, for the Adjournment thereof.

Raising Forces, &c. in Devan.

Resolved, upon the Question, That all the Deputy Lieutenants of the County of Devon, and the principal Gentlemen, do meet together in certain convenient Places of that Shire, and at appointed Times; and have Power from both Houses to convene each particular Person of Ability before them, and to demand what every Man will lend, either by the Week, Month, or in Gross, for the Defence of the Kingdom:

That it be Declared, That those which will not contribute to this necessary Service, do as much as in them lies to betray their Religion, Liberty, and Property; and do shew themselves dead Members, that have no Feeling of the Calamity of the Kingdom; and therefore, that they shall not be protected by the Horse and Arms which shall be raised within this County.

4. That some of those which shall be most notoriously refractory be sent up to the Parliament, to give an Account, before the Houses, why they refuse.

5. That a Troop of Horse shall be presently raised, and an Hundred Dragoons, for the Quiet of that County, to answer all Alarms, to bring up to Parliament Delinquents, and to do other Service, as they shall be injoined by One or both Houses of Parliament.

6. That such as have subscribed either Plate or Money, and have not performed it, be instantly required particularly to pay it in.

It is Declared, That both the Houses of Parliament will take it as a high Mockery and Indignity offered them, if they do not perform according to their Agreement: And that those who shall not tender such an Excuse which shall be, in the Opinion of the major Part of the Commissioners, judged reasonable, shall be sent to the Parliament, to answer their gross Abuse, and Breach of Promise.

7. That whereas the County of Devon is content to raise the Troop of Horse at their own Charge, expecting no Re-payment for their Raising, so as the Officers may be chosen by them, and paid out of the Contribution Money of the City of Exon; It is Ordered, That they reside at Exon, unless they shall be called thence by the Deputy Lieutenants of Devon, for to serve elsewhere.

8. That Snaphance Musquets shall be sent them for the One hundred Dragoons.

9. That they shall have those Horse and Arms valued; and shall have the Faith of the Kingdom, that the Troop of Horse shall be entertained for so long time as the Houses shall think fit.
