PREFACE

The object of publishing these Journals independently of the Calendar of State Papers Colonial has been explained in the first volume issued (1704–9). The Journal is now carried down to December 1767. This volume contains a list of Commissions with dates, and with the page references to the volumes from the year 1704 down to the date of the end of the current volume, and also a list of Governors for the various plantations. It has been printed under the supervision of Mr. K. H. Ledward, an Assistant Keeper of the Records, who has also compiled the Index.
