Tuesday, November 17th. Present:—Lord Clare, Mr. Jenyns,
Mr. Roberts, Mr. Dyson, Mr. Fitzherbert, Mr. Robinson.
Plantations General.
Read a letter from Mr. Alderman Trecothick, dated the 30th
ultimo., containing the sentiments of the merchants trading to
North America, and of several agents for the colonies, met
together the 29th ultimo, concerning the management of Indian
affairs, and the forming new governments in the interior country
in North America.

Their lordships took into further consideration the subject
matter of the Earl of Shelburne's letter of the 5th ultimo, and after
discoursing with Sir Jeffery Amherst and General Monckton on the
several points contained in the said letter, several other officers
employed in different departments of the service were examined.
Thursday, November 19th. Present:—Lord Clare, Mr. Jenyns,
Mr. Roberts, Mr. Dyson, Mr. Fitzherbert, Mr. Robinson.

Their lordships made a further progress in the consideration
of the subject matter of the Earl of Shelburne's letter of the 5th
of October, and several officers employed in various departments of
his Majesty's military service in North America, were examined
touching the several points referred to in the said letter.
Friday, November 20th. Present:—Lord Clare, Mr. Jenyns,
Mr. Roberts, Mr. Dyson, Mr. Fitzherbert.
Massachusetts.

Mr. Bollan, late his Majesty's Advocate General of Massachusets
Bay, attended, and moved their lordships for a copy of their
report to the Privy Council upon his memorial, relative to the
preservation of his Majesty's woods in America, which their
lordships did not think fit to grant.
Maryland, Pennsylvania.
Read an Order of the Lords of the Committee of Council for
Plantation Affairs, dated the 24th of August, 1767, referring to
this Board, for their consideration and report, a petition of the
Proprietaries of Maryland and Pennsylvania, praying his Majesty's
confirmation of certain proceedings relative to the boundaries
between those two provinces.
Their lordships agreed to take the said order of reference into
consideration on Thursday next, and the Secretary was ordered to
give notice thereof to the agents for the respective Proprietaries.
Grenada.

A report to the Lords of the Committee of Council for Plantation Affairs upon the address of the new subjects in the Island of
Grenada, referred to this Board by an Order mentioned in the
minutes of the 16th ultimo, was agreed to and signed.
New York.
Their lordships took into consideration an Order of the Lords
of the Committee of Council for Plantation Affairs, referring the
petition of Mr. de Frudenberg for a grant of thirty thousand
acres of land in New York or Quebec; and the Secretary having
acquainted the Board, that General Graham desired to appear
before their lordships, in support of the said petition, it was
agreed to take it into consideration on Thursday next, and that
notice thereof should be given to General Graham.

Plantations General.
The Secretary laid before the Board the following extracts
and copies of papers transmitted from the Secretary of State's
office by the Earl of Shelburne's order, vizt.,
Extract of a letter from Major General Gage to the Earl of
Shelburne, dated New York, October 10th, 1767, relative
to Indian affairs.
Copy of a letter from Mr. Stuart to the Earl of Shelburne,
dated Charles Town, October 3rd, 1767, respecting the
Indians.
Two affidavits of Joseph Mackenfus concerning a murder
committed by the Indians.
Georgia.
fo. 329.
Their lordships took into consideration an Order of the Lords
of the Committee of Council, referring a petition of Captain
Piggot, praying for a grant of five thousand acres of land in
Georgia, and Mr. Jenyns having stated the merit and services of
Captain Piggot, it was ordered, that the draught of a report
should be prepared, proposing that the prayer of his petition may
be complied with.
Plantations General.
Their lordships made a further progress in the consideration
of the subject matter of the Earl of Shelburne's letter of the 5th
ultimo.
Thursday, November 26th. Present:—Lord Clare, Mr. Jenyns,
Mr. Dyson, Mr. Fitzherbert, Mr. Robinson.
New York.

Their lordships took into further consideration the reference
of the petition of Charles de Frudenberg, praying for a grant of
thirty thousand acres of land in New York or Canada, and General
Graeme attending, their lordships heard what he had to offer in
support thereof, after which their lordships communicated to
General Graeme a report lately made by them to the Lords of the
Committee of Council upon the subject of the preservation of his
Majesty's woods in North America, recommending that no grants
of land whatever should be made in those provinces, untill surveys
and reservations had been made of such spots as should be fit for
naval purposes.

Their lordships having observed to General Graeme, that they
could not, consistent with their report, now under the consideration of Council, recommend, for the present, that Mr. de Frudenberg's petition should be complied with, it was resolved, at the
request of General Graeme, that it should lye by for further
consideration when the Council should have determined upon the
abovementioned report.
Proprieties, Maryland, Pennsylvania.
Their lordships then took into consideration the petition of the
Proprietaries of Maryland and Pennsylvania, praying a confirmation of several proceedings respecting the limits between those
provinces, and the agents for the Proprietaries attending, were
heard thereupon; after which it was ordered, that a copy of the
petition should be sent to the Attorney and Solicitor General for
their opinion in point of law, how far it may be necessary or
proper for his Majesty to comply with the prayer thereof, or with
any part of it.

Friday, November 27th. Present:—Lord Clare, Mr. Dyson,
Mr. Fitzherbert, Mr. Robinson.
Leeward Islands, St. Christopher's.
Read the humble petition of John Mahon, William Roscrow
and William Burroughs, praying that an Act passed at St.
Christopher's in 1764 for regulating the practice of the law, may be
repealed.
Ordered, that the said petition and Act therein mentioned be
taken into consideration on this day sennight, and that notice be
given to the agent for the petitioners, and also to Mr. Wilmot,
agent for the Island of St. Christopher's.
