About three miles west of the town, and near Stoke-Ferry, is the
hamlet of Wittington, belonging to this township. In 15th James I.
Char. Croft, Esq. was found to have died possessed of a free tenement and lands here, called Hulliars, held of the manor of Northwold
in free soccage, and the rent of 9s. 11d. per annum. (fn. 1)
