Leeward Islands.

Letter from Colonel Hart.

A letter from Colonel Hart, Governor of the Leeward Islands, dated the 26th of January, 1722–3, was read, and the papers, therein referred to, were laid before the Board, viz:—
Papers therein referred to.
Capitulation for evacuating the island of Santa Lucia to the French on the 21st of January, 1722–3, and copy of the French king's orders for disloding the English from thence.
Copy of two letters from Colonel Hart to the Governor of Martinique about the ill usage of some Englishmen at Guadaloupe, etc.
The Governor of Martinique's answer to Colonel Hart.

What relates to Saint Lucia, to be sent to Lord Carteret.

Whereupon ordered that copies of those papers and of that part of Colonel Hart's letter, which relates to the French Governor of Martinique's having drove off the English from Santa Lucia be sent to the Lord Carteret.

Virginia.

Letter from Mr. Horace Walpole.

Act and address about settling two new counties.

A letter from Mr. Horace Walpole, dated the 5th instant, desiring a copy of an Act of Assembly and address relating to the settling of two new counties in Virginia, was read, and ordered that a copy of the said Act and address, be sent to him accordingly.

Plantations General.

Letter from Mr. Manley of the Custom House about instructions to Governors concerning Trade with the French Plantations.

A letter from Mr. Manley, dated the 13th instant, desiring for the Commissioners of the Customs a copy of the instruction to governors, relating to trading with the French Plantations, was read, whereupon ordered that a copy of the said instruction be sent accordingly.

Jamaica.

Letter to Duke of Portland, Governor.

A letter to the Duke of Portland, Governor of Jamaica, ordered to be prepared the 29th of the last month, was agreed and signed.

Bermuda.

Letter from Colonel Hope about Comptroller of the Admiralty rights.

A letter from Colonel Hope, Lieutenant Governor of Bermuda, dated the 9th of September, 1722, desiring directions how to behave himself in relation to Mr. Dinwiddie's commission as Comptroller of the Admiralty rights there, was read.

Another letter from Colonel Hope, dated the 23rd of November, 1722, was read, and the papers, therein referred to, were laid before the Board, viz:—

Description of the Bermuda or Summer Islands.
Petition and remonstrance of the Governor, Council and Assembly of Bermuda to the Lords of Trade, dated November the 20th, 1722.

List of persons recommended to supply vacancies in the Council of Bermuda.
Two Acts passed at Bermuda in November 1722.

Draught of letter to Lord Carteret.

Whereupon ordered that the draught of a letter be prepared for enclosing the said address to the Lord Carteret, in order to its being laid before His Majesty.

New counsellor.

Ordered that the draught of a representation be prepared for recommending Mr. Thomas Parsons to succeed Colonel Smith, who is suspended from the Council of Bermuda.
