4	Vide extract from Cook's will, Appendix A. A Jesus altar was not unusual, with a Jesus Mass to be said or sung at regular intervals.

8	Hungerford. Later on Sir Edward Hungerford was a prominent vestryman; Hungerford Market and Hungerford Bridge (now at Clifton), took their name from this family.

Token money was probably the payment made by people (by way of Easter offering) when they received their token that they were prepared—by confession—to make their Easter Communion; cf. the present use in the Church of Scotland. Mr. Thomas Burns in Old Scottish Communion Plate (chap. iv) says there is no evidence of Pre-Reformation Tokens in Scotland.
10	It is likely that the quarterly collections on pp. 9, 10, 11, etc. included payments for pews; there is a reference on p. 14 also.
11	Day before Good Friday. The 'sepulchre' was prepared then for the ceremonies of Eastertide.
