Prefatory Note

The Text of this Volume was completed by the late Dr. Shaw before the War. The Introduction has been written by Mr. F. H. Slingsby, an Assistant Keeper of the Public Records, and he has also prepared the Statement of Revenue and Expenditure and the extracts from the Declared Accounts.

A longer Note on the work of the late Dr. Shaw for the Public Record Office, and on the publication of thirteen volumes (of which the present is one) in the state in which he left them, is prefixed to Volume XX of this series.

3 December, 1957.
D. L. Evans
