Naval Affairs.

Ordered, That the Two Frigates, informed to be at Dover, shall be forthwith bought for the Service of the Commonwealth: And that it be referred to the Committee for the Navy to provide Monies for the Payment for them.

Sir H. Vane and Mr. Strode are appointed to repair to the Lord Admiral, to acquaint his Lordship what this House has done concerning these Two Frigates.

Collectors of Subsidies.

Resolved, upon the Question, That the Knights and Burgesses of every County be enjoined to write unto the Sheriffs of their respective Counties, that they warn all Collectors of the First Four Subsidies, who have not yet perfected their Accounts, that they come and perfect their Accounts by the Beginning of the next Term: And that all other Collectors of the Two last Subsidies make their Accounts also by the End of * next Term, as they will answer their Neglect therein to this House.

Resolved, upon * *, That some Two or Three particular Men, that are most defective in their Accounts, be punished, for Example-sake, unto others.

Ordered, That Mr. Wheeler do move the Barons of the Exchequer, That the Bonds of such Accomptants as shall not bring in their Monies collected upon the Subsidies within Ten Days, be forthwith put in Suit against them: And that such Collectors as do not pay in their Monies accordingly, shall pay Interest for such Monies as they have in their Hands, from the Time as the said Monies were first due.

Lord Lieutenants, &c.

Sir Wm. Brereton is appointed to go to the Lords, to acquaint their Lordships, that this House does nominate the Lord Viscount Say and Seale, Master of the Court of Wards and Liveries, to be the Lord Lieutenant of the County of Chester; and likewise the Earl of Bedford to be Lord Lieutenant of the County of Sommersett: And to desire their Lordships Concurrence herein: And likewise to acquaint their Lordships, That the Earls of Cumberland and Lincoln have sent down no Names of their Deputy Lieutenants: And to desire their Answer: And likewise desire their Lordships to expedite their Deputations for the Deputy Lieutenancy.

Huntingdon Petition.

The humble Petition of the Knights, Gentlemen, and Freeholders of the County of Hunt' was this Day read: And the House well approved of it: And the Knight that served for that County that brought it in, was ordered to render the County Thanks for their Affection and Care expressed in their Petition.

Sheriffs Accounts.

Mr. Serjeant Wilde, Mr. Bagshaw, Sir Arth. Ingram, Sir Jo. Strangewayes, Mr. Pury, Mr. Cage, Mr. Glyn, are appointed to prepare a Bill for the Discharging the Sheriffs from paying any Fees in passing their Accounts.

Safety of Hull.

Upon Mr. Hollis his acquainting the House with some Particulars in a Letter that he received from Sir John Hotham, It was

Resolved, upon the Question, That this House does approve of those Forces and Companies that Sir John Hotham has brought into Hull, to the Number of about a Thousand, for the Safety of that Place: And that the Men be paid accordingly.

Resolved, That this House doth consent, that Sir John Hotham shall have Power to make use of the Ammunition in Hull as he shall see Cause.

Resolved, That the Lords be desired to concur in these Votes.

Lord Lieutenants, &c.

Sir Wm. Brereton brings Answer, That the Lords do concur in the Nomination of the Lord Say to be Lord Lieutenant of the County of Chester; and in the Nomination of the Earl of Bedford to be Lord Lieutenant of the County of Sommersett: That the Earl of Lincolne is very ready to obey the Commands of Parliament; but, in regard no other Counties are divided but Lincolne, he desires to be excused: As for the Earl of Cumberland he is out of Town; but they have sent unto him for his Answer, but have not yet received it: And that they would expedite their Deputations with all convenient Speed.

Resolved, upon the Question, That this House doth nominate and approve the Lord Willoughby of Parham to be Lord Lieutenant of the whole County of Lincolne: And that the Lords Concurrence be desired.

Finchingfield Minister.

The humble Petition of Sir Robert Kemp Knight, Patron of the Parish Church of Finchingfield in Essex, was this Day read, concerning their Desire to retain Mr. Marshall, their Pastor, among them, recommended by this House at the Desires of the Parish of St. Margarett's, Westminster, to be their Lecturer.

The Question was proposed, Whether a Committee should be appointed for this Business, concerning the Petition of the Parishioners of Finchingfield.

Message from Lords.

A Message from the Lords by Sir Edw. Leech and Dr. Bennett;

The Lords have sent us to let you know, that according to the Desires * * *, they have sent for Sir Jo. Pennington and Captain Wake; and that they are come: And likewise, that they have received a Commission for the Passing of the Bill for Raising of Four hundred thousand Pounds; but that the Commission is fixed to the Bill:- Whether this House is content it should pass so, is the Question.-They find, that the Bill of Subsidies passed 18° Jac. with the Commission fixed unto it. If this House thinks it not fit to pass thus, the Bill must be sent to Yorke.

Reducing Irish Rebels.

Army in Ireland.

Ordered, That it be referred to the Committee for Irish Affairs, to consider from what Time to pay the old Army of Ireland, and the Recruits of that Army and to come to some Resolution upon the whole Matter, and propound it to the House.

That Mr. Pym shall move the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland to send in a List of his Officers: And then this House will resolve of a Time for the Commissions: And likewise Mr. Pym is to bring in a List of all such Forces as are now actually in the Service of this State in Ireland.

Ordered, That the Committee for Irish Affairs shall take care to provide a Thousand' Horse Arms.

Ordered, That the Lords be desired to join with this House in a Desire to his Majesty, to give Order to the Master of the Ordnance to deliver out of the Stores Six Pieces of Demi-cannon of the Ball of Twenty-four Pounds Weight, with their full Equipage.

That it be referred to the Committee for Irish Affairs to consider what Sum will be convenient to be left in the Deputy-treasurer's at Wars Hands for Ireland, for incident Charges to the Scotts.

Sheriff of Northampton.

Navy Estimate.

Ordered, That the Estimate of the Charge of Eight Pinnaces be referred to the Committee with relation to the former Order in this Business.

Baggage-horses.

Ordered, That the Commissioners appointed to treat with the Scotts, shall prepare an Order to enable the Scotts to take up Baggage-horses in Ireland for the Service of their Baggage and their Dragoons.
